Super fresh and large amount
This is a great bulk pack of beans. They are super fresh because they are vacuum sealed. Takes a little bit of prep, but result is very yummy. Perfect for a vegetarian or vegan diet where you often eat a lot of beans. Very filling!

Longer cook time but well worth it
I was quite intrigued to try "Speckled kidney beans". Here on the US Gulf Coast we have speckled butterbeans and large red kidney beans, but these are closer in taste and texture to the red beans we use for red beans and rice. The packaging on these is neat, they are tightly vacuum packed in a block where the wrap shrinks around the shape of the beans and that is in an outer bag. It's a cool experience to hold the bag in both hands and let the inner package slide around in the outer one.I cooked these in my pressure pot at my usual setting of clicking the beans button, adding 5 minutes and letting them go until full natural release. They were still a bit crunchy, maybe a bit over half done so I ran them through the same settings again. At that point they were nicely done, tender while still firm and had a denser creamier texture than the red beans they compare to and were quite delicious. They also grew more in volume during cooking, they start out small in the package then (at least) double to a nice size.

Good quality beans
These beans come in vacuum-sealed to maintain freshness and seem to be good quality. We cooked them and then added to chili, but it was quite a long process. Definitely tasted more fresh, but takes a lot more time than canned beans. Good quality and would do it when we have time

Good beans but took some time to get the cooking just right
So they take a lot of work and I probably won't get them again but I do not regret trying them out. Popping open a can of kidney beans is far easier and in my opinion the quality isn't so far off considering the convenience, but I do understand why some people would rather cook with the raw beans themselves and start from scratch. I will say I did like the taste slightly more than standard red kidney beans.I started with unsoaked beans in an instant pot for 45 minutes at 1 cup beans to 3 cups water based on an online recipe (I really wish they would include specific cooking instructions on the packaging, but it's not a huge deal). That was far too firm and many were undercooked significantly. I upped it to 55 minutes and that was closer but both times I ended up cooking these longer on the stove to reach the softness I was looking for and to prevent any issues with my gut.Overall it was an interesting experience, but yeah if you are used to cooking the raw beans yourself these seem like great quality. There were not many broken or opened beans in my package and I appreciate that they are organic...just not something I see myself doing on a regular basis.

Large bag of kidney beans
Darsa organica speckled kidney beans 4 lb. Organic, non gmo, kosher, chemical free, vegan, packed in India. The bag is huge and vacuum packed. The beans are large and delicious. They will need to be soaked and take longer than most types to cook. They’re good in chili, stews, and curry. I think they’re a great value for what you get. 16$ at the time of ordering.

Good kidney beans
The beans came in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag. After I opened the bag I moved the beans into a ziplock bag with a slider for more convenient storage and use. The beans are of good quality. They are clean have the same size. I cooked them as I usually do with any dried beans. I do not soak them. Instead, I put them in cold water and cook them for about an hour. I was unsure how long it would take the speckled beans to cook, so I frequently checked them on doneness. After about an hour and a half they were still al dente, which was fine by me because I do not always like squishy beans. I added some spices to the beans, and they tasted good!

Great flavor
I did do an overnight soak in chicken broth with these and let them soak until an hour or so before dinner; popped them in the instant pot and they were perfect after about 25 minutes. We really enjoyed the flavor.

Tastes great!
I’ve never ordered beans off Amazon so I was a bit skeptical about these. However, I’m pretty happy with them! After cooking, they taste amazing
