I want to read more of her works
I always like how Julie Anne Peters's writing could bring the best out of us readers, the genuine caring toward the characters. In this book, as Alix struggled to make sense of her life after her girlfriend died, I found myself cheering her not to give up on trying to find happiness again. Second, unlike many romance fiction, where two characters got lost in cat and mouse quarrel. Alix and Liana's conversations are rich with a simple message—we all want to find our place in the world, where we could live a meaningful life with the one we love by our side.I look forward to reading more of her works in the future.

How do you continue with life after your loved one is loss
An emotional & entertaining story with characters that become so authentic they truly become like real people in your mind & a riveting plot lines that draws you in so effortlessly & subtly without you even noticing.

Caught my attention within the first few pages. Thats when I know the book will be great!
I love the book because it really gets my empathetic side into overdrive! I can feel what the characters feel. The emotion in this book is navigated in such a way I haven't read before. And that intrigued me. I definitely recommend this book.

Honest and well written
Julie Anne Peters spins a tale of loss and the things you discover about yourself when everything suddenly changes. Good character development, real issues gay youth are facing today and of course a good love story make this a worth while read. I am looking forward to reading more of her books!

First. Good book I've read in a while
This book definitely puts life into perspective. I enjoyed the realness of the characters and the story. I'm glad I bought it I will definitely read it again. The only thing I would change is making the ending longer. I'm still left wondering what happens to them.

Great book
When I first started reading this I didn't think I was going to like it but it's really one of my favorite books after I gave it a chance.

My first by Julie Anne Peters...
...and possibly not my last. Interesting twist on a YA LGBT novel where the girlfriend of the title is dead from the start. And as secrets emerge, you really find yourself disliking her intensely whilst rooting for Alix and Liana. This did have one of those 'there's a secret that going to cause problems when it comes out' story arcs which feels unreal and I find somewhat frustrating, but I could forgive it a lot due to the really accessible and easy-read style. It was also nice (and a change) that this wasn't about coming out, or even the fact that the main characters are gay. That's purely incidental.I read this really quickly which is good and bad. Good because it was pretty immersive and I enjoyed it. Bad because it was all over much too quickly. I wonder if the author may ever write something for the grown ups in future...

I a d o r e d it
I read this book during an 8-hour car drive, and didn't put it down for a second.Alix starts this book a rather "stereotypical" teenager - she is distanced from her parents, believing their rules and regulations are far too strict. Meanwhile, she's completely in love with Swanee - so much so that she fails to notice all the shortcomings of their relationship. In the book, we see her develop, going through the five stages of grief and ultimately coming out the better for it in the other side. At he end of the book, she has a far better relationship with her parents and baby brother, is in a far better (and ultimately slightly healthier) relationship with Liana, and even managed to fix her rather broken friendship with her former best friend Betheny.I really enjoyed this book, especially reading about Alix's character development and how she deals with her grief and despair after Swanee's death. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good read, whether they are currently dealing with the same things as Alix or not.

Easy read
I choose this book after a friend started selling it. I didn't realise it was a teenage story, however it made no difference. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Highly recommend
