history repeating injustice
Yet again history repeats itself with injustice. The author weaves the facts of witchcraft accusations into a wonderful novel. Fast and interesting reading

Sad, but very good.
I truly enjoyed this book though the events were incredibly sad. No matter the fiction witch trials were very real and I cried over every injustice. I can only hope this book opens people’s minds to their own ill-willed prejudices.

Great, well written story
I loved this book. It was mindfully written in fiction within the framework of historical fact. Loved the story, the characters, the research. It is probably the best book I have read in the past couple of years; I enjoyed it that much!

An excellent page turner
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Given that it is based on actual events, it is both intriguing and terrifying. I especially enjoyed the descriptive writing, and felt I was actually there, amid both the tranquility and the chaos.I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Scottish history, particularly that of the time of witchcraft trials.

Time travelling through history
A stirring read that takes the reader back into a time where fear and accusations of witchcraft brought with it a great injustice and death to so many

Frightening times
This was a good story, although I felt the pace slowed a bit in the middle, before it got going again. Terrible times when people could be accused for the simplest reasons. I was only sorry the Rev McNeil never came face to face with Sim!

Interesting read
This is definitely a novel but an interesting way to weave a plot around a historical fact. I enjoyed it
