Impressive Looking machine that falls down majorly on functionality.
Myself and my partner run a small business in our spare time specialising in marketing for small local businesses. One of our many offerings is engraved items. With that we have owned a number of machines including an Xtool M1. Whilst this review does not relate to that, I must say that apart from breaking down after less than a year and less than 200 hours use, the M1 was a good machine. It lacked the finesse of the S1 but it worked well. The S1 is a fairly large machine and comes with some good features. The air assist included in this package is a real bonus and the price is good too. Unfortunately its functionality is less impressive. It's a 10W laser which according to Xtools marketing material will cut a range of items, many of which they include in their sample pack. Sadly, this would appear to not be the case. My first cut was some 3mm plywood. I selected the machines details settings and started to cut away. The laser could not cut the wood despite the default settings suggesting it would. Next was the acrylic. Wouldn't cut it either. Next was engraving metal, again with no success. The principle of the machine is great, but sadly the laser would appear to be too underpowered for most materials. I will be looking to return the machine and purchase one from an alternative supplier, namely creality. Top marks to Amazon though on their customer service.
