🎨 Unleash Your Inner Artist with Grumbacher Gesso!
Grumbacher Gesso is a premium surface prep medium designed for both acrylic and oil painting. This 32 oz. jar is made in the USA and can be applied to various porous surfaces, including canvas, wood, and plaster. It allows for tinting with acrylic colors, providing artists with the flexibility to create their desired effects. However, it should not be mixed with turpentine or oils, making it a specialized choice for serious artists.

Versatile gesso
I used it as a substitute for white color acrylic paint which cost more. For now I do not see any difference.Use it also to prime my canvass before painting and to reuse the canvass for repainting.

My Favorite
As an artist, I begin virtually every painting (oil or acrylic) with underpainting using this Gesso mixed with whatever background colors needed. It has a perfect consistency and is easy to use. I also use it as my white paint in many acrylic paintings. Good Stuff!

A Heavy Consistency Gesso
Grumbacher gesso is a thicker consistency than others I have used. It covers the canvas well, but harder to apply smoothly for a flat untextured finish. Sanding may be needed for still life and portrait paintings. I use it to cover my canvas in abstracts when I'm not concerned with the painting appearing smooth.

Excellent Product
I am an acrylic artist who uses this gesso every time I paint.I use it not only to prime the canvas, but also instead of white acrylic paint. It gives great opacity to the transparent colors. I use a lot so the 32 oz bottle was perfect for me.

Lid stuck by dried gesso.
Product arrived with the lid sealed shut. The gesso had spilled over the outside edges of the plastic jar, either before sealing or afterwards. In either case, the result was that the sealed lid had dried over the ample amount of gesso, acting like glue, and was impossible to unscrew. My husband and I worked for 20 minutes or longer, pulling out the dried gesso and prying off the lid. The lid is now damaged. There was no film seal across the top, under the lid, which might have prevented such a disaster.
