These are a size LARGE to fit a 34 waist without being tight fitting, as my husband likes to have a little room in them Medium would fit a 34 waist if you want a more clinging look.

Are these waterproof?

Water repellent but not waterproof. I wouldn't trust them in a rain storm but I would recommend these running pants.

how is the leg size compared to the waist size

I'm a 36 - 38 in jeans and have a 30" leg,what size in these would suit me,I don't want them tight but too have a little room in them
