Ooh La La et Mon Dieu !! The grandkids loved this when I turned up at their birthday party and sung on their karaoke a medley of their favourite songs in a French accent. Ok I guess for a few uses. Beret ok for the job, stick on moustaches, you get a few, and the garlic stays in one piece if you’re not too heavy handed. You just have to source your own t-shirt and pants to complete the look.

This is such a quick and effective way of creating a French character. All you need to do is pair it with a stripy top and you're done. The set consists of three items - the string of garlic, a black beret and impressive handlebar moustache. The garlic is fantastically realistic and the beret fully elasticated, so that it can fit any head. The kit comes with six moustaches. These simply have a peel off back and you stick them to your face. I just tore off the middle section of the backing paper and it stayed put very well. If you were wearing it all day though you'd probably stick the whole thing to your face but fear not, the adhesive is not so strong that it's painful to remove the moustache - there will be no impromptu facial waxing using these! Terrific fun and instantly recognisable as being French, albeit in a slightly caricaturesque fashion, this set is great value at £8.95 (at time of ordering).

The set comes with a beret, made of the same sort of woven material you'd get with a disposable painting and decorating overall; a set of 5 moustaches and a string of onions/garlic - looks more like the latter to me. Just add your hooped top and you're good to go. The beret looks more like a dinner ladies hat dyed black, but it's comfortable to wear. I don't expect it to last for than 2 or 3 outings though. The moustaches are stick on ones but seem to peel off the skin okay, though anyone with sensitive skin might want to look for a moustache with nose clips instead. In terms of durability the string of garlic is probably the best item of the lot. So, it's not bad for your fancy dress party/dress up 'who dunnit' game etc. - but probably best to consider the costume as a single outing outfit, because the materials aren't made to last.

The 3 piece French fancy dress costume provides almost everything you need to look absolutely French. All that's missing is the striped top, which you need to provide yourself. You get a black beret, a necklace of garlic bulbs and not just one but SIX stick on moustaches. I think you're supposed to wear one at a time to get the optimum result but you could layer them or wear any of the additional moustaches as eyebrow curtains if you felt like it. I really like the multi-use aspect in that if you decide you don't want to look "French", then you can use the beret and the moustache to create your very own mime outfit. Or, you could go crazy and be a French Mime. In terms of value for money, you can use the entire costume six times (once per moustache) and perhaps more if you look after the moustaches or use a skin-safe glue so you'll definitely get a fair amount of use for the price.

Consists of a string of garlic, a black beret and a set of self adhesive moustaches. The beret is a costume piece, not a regular material beret, but should last for the occasion. The garlic bulbs are quite realistic and are have plastic tubes connecting them. There are six moustaches which are felt-like and self adhesive - to attach simply remove backing paper and stick to the upper lip. The moustaches stick fairly well but it's good to have the spares on you in case they get tired and fall off. Good fun for a joke, book day or fancy dress.

Very cliche Frenchman accessories. I admit I got it for the beret, as I got an outfit for my granddaughter recently that was modelled with a beret and looked so cute. It's made of felt and not top quality, but you don't expect that with costuming. It will suit my purpose just fine and looks to be the right size for her. The mustaches are very soft felt fabric with stick on back. I expected one and got five! These won't fool anyone and are strictly for costuming, but I expect they will be a bit of fun around Halloween. The garlic strand looks fairly realistic, although the outside of the bulbs is paper. I think these will come in handy for some sort of vampire theme. Overall a good collection if kids costuming is in your future.

This looks the part however was a bit disappointed with the garlic necklace, was very plasticky and not very big. The moustaches were ok for about 5 mins then they just came off your face. The beret was a nice quality though and fitted well.
