Good Quality Ladder at an Awesome Price (x2)
We bought a house just over a year ago with a detached 24x30 shop. My first project was getting one of these ladders and installing it in the shop (since it only had a scuttle hole for attic access). It has proved invaluable for getting up and down to the attic for storing all the crap we brought over from our other house. It was relatively easy to install and I managed to do it entirely by myself. Since there was already a way to get into the attic and I was installing the ladder at a different location, it was possible for me to install temporary lumber below the new hole and rest the ladder on them while I tacked down the temporary hangers. At that point, I just removed the temporary lumber and finished the install. The ladder has gotten a lot of use over the past year and works just as well as it did when I installed it. The design is simple and reliable and you just can't beat the price. Even though the price just now jumped from $98 to $119, I think it's still a good deal. Now, one year later, I want to utilize the area above our attached carport for storing more junk. So, I just ordered another one. I'm pretty confident that I will be just as happy with this purchase.EDIT:So, I received the second ladder and the quality is just as good as the first one I bought last year. This product is still relatively easy to install and also works just as good.On a side note, I did take the option of purchsing one of the "used" items from the Amazon Warehouse which states: "Packaging is damaged. Item may have minor cosmetic damage, but still functions as intended." I figured as long as it works correctly, I could handle some cosmetic flaws -- I mean, heck, it's just wood which would be easy to patch and paint over if needed. When I received the item, I just had to laugh. The box was only slightly messed up with only one spot needing a bit of tape. The product had no damage what-so-ever. Had I paid full price, I would've been fully okay with receiving the item in this condition. So happy I opted for the "used" version ($84.28) as opposed to the "new" version ($119.00 at the time) -- both were Prime, so I still got it shipped two-day for free.Additional info: It looks like the price has gone up even more in the last week with the new version being $122 and the warehouse version up to $101.87. Of course, I still think it's a good deal along with the free shipping and no tax; otherwise, it may be better to just pick one up at your local Home Depot or Lowe's.

Quality and GREAT price
I had an aluminum ladder that broke after 5 years and it was selling on Amazon for $299 and when I bought it I only paid about $130 or so. I saw this ladder for $98 and it looked like the same ladder that I had except it was wood and the aluminum was rated for 350 lbs. and the wood was 250 lbs. I don't weigh that much and because the hole in my ceiling is large I figured I could use a pulley if I needed to carry something up or down from the attic. It would be safer that way also. The item was shipped to me in only 2 days with regular free shipping and the parts were all there and instructions were simple to follow. However step 1 said that 2 people were needed to install and I don't like to ask anyone for help and I didn't want to wait for my friend to come to help me later in the week---so, I figured I would rip the old broken one out and me being the "gotta get it done now" guy, I don't recommend this, but I hooked up a pulley and lo and behold got the job done myself.Granted it was quite a struggle but all went well and it is safely installed and is framed square and the bubble on the level is right on. It actually is installed better than the other one that broke. I live in a house on a slab (no basement) and no garage so the attic is precious. I suggest you get another person to help but for the price and quality it is an unbelievable deal. I would give this 6 stars if I could as it really is a durable ladder and for $98 and free shipping/no tax you won't find a better deal.

Perfect fit without having to cut the floor joists.
This attic ladder really fit our needs. No reconfiguring the floor joists needed as it fit in between. The spring mechanism for the door is strong. I have to use a little muscle to pull the door down and open but I can manage it fine. (I'm an average size gal over 55+ years old) The ladder itself pulls down easily once the door is open. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the step treads are short, front to back but it certainly does the job. It's quite sturdy. My husband is really pleased, at 200lbs he climbs up and down without concern. The door also firmly shuts and fits snugly into the ceiling. We had our handyman do the install with a helper. It took them roughly 3 1/2 hours, start to finish. Shipping was to our front door, thanks goodness for that because the box was HEAVY but arrived in fine shape. We are very satisifed with our purchase. I hope this helps. :)

Nice Compact Attic Ladder
I needed an attic ladder for my home with relatively low ceilings and not much room in the attic itself which limited what would be stored there. This more compact and economical ladder is just the solution for such a situation. The install was easy, the worst part was my unique problem as my older home has plaster over thin drywall which made for a messy job cutting it out but the actually install was simple. I used a masonry disc on an angle grinder with a shopvac hose right by the disc to collect dust. I didn't follow the instructions using the included plumber strap to suspend the unit between ceiling joists, instead I used boards at each end of the opening to suspend the unit so it could be more easily placed, squared, and shimmed, this is how I'd installed similar units in the past. Two of the indicated fastener locations by the hinge are hard to reach with power tools but it can be dealt with. I'm satisfied.

Solid and Strightforward Install
The product is fine but you have to do a good job on the install. The rectangle opening to accommodate this ladder needs to be measured close. I did one of these before and learned that the hard way. The prep is the bulk of the work. Once its all square just slip some shims and throw nails in with a framing nailer. Screws can twist and warp the frame if not careful.Just wish I went bigger. If you have 24" OC rafters the 22" ladder is a simple install. If your okay with cutting rafters for the 25" its the same amount of work for the 30" and you get a nice wide opening for all those boxes and decorations.

Works like a charm
We wish we had bought this years ago! We can now access the attic in our garage with ease. Arrived quickly, and is a solid product that does exactly what it says it will. It says it's a two-man job, and it is. But if you know that, plan for it and have someone strong and handy to help out. Works like a charm.

Fairly sturdy ladder and gives easy access to attic
I received this attic ladder quickly and with no damage in the packaging. I am building an addition so I wanted an attic ladder for easy access to the attic space for extra storage. I unboxed the ladder and layed out all the parts. It says 2 person install, but I do most everything by myself so I was able to do this on my own, with some creative thinking. It was to be installed in an attic truss system with 24" OC, so this was ordered for that spacing, and it fits as it should between the trusses. I added some cross pieces on both ends at the proper placements. I supported the ladder with other pieces of wood and lifted it up into place. I used the provided metal strapping to temporarily hold it in place so i could shim it properly and attach it for good. I used the nails provided in the instructed places, then added a few more for good measure. Once it was mounted I pulled down the ladder and it worked like it should. It is a firm pull, but that is what you want. I measured the finished floor height and cut the bottom of the ladder so it met the floor fully extended. I am overall happy with the value of this ladder, best bang for the buck. If I could say one thing negative, it the paneling on the bottom of the latter is very thin. I will need to insulate in a box above to meet the local building code for attic insulation. I hope this give me years of trouble free use. I recommend this ladder.
