Easy to clean gerbil mansion
The media could not be loaded. We fostered two gerbils over the holidays through our local animal rescue. They were sent to us in a 10 gallon aquarium which is way too small for gerbils but it’s all the rescue had, which is understandable, as they only have what they receive in donations. We decided to adopt them and knew we’d need to upgrade their cage asap. I saw this online and read reviews and was unsure as to whether I should get it or not. I’m glad I took the chance and ordered it! It's very spacious and I love that the bottom is a little deeper so that we can put extra bedding in for the gerbils to burrow. I was not the one to assemble it, but I am the one who takes it apart to clean it and it is pretty easy to get the top(wire part) off and back on to clean out the glass bottom. The bottom level holds all of their bedding, as well as their house and a little platform which holds their sand bath. The second level is large enough to hold an 11 inch wheel which is the minimum size that a gerbil should have. On the top level, we have their water bottle, bathroom container and a food bowl for when they get fresh food. They love running up and down all of the levels and I think they’re very happy. I also like that they’re two doors in different locations on the cage so that it makes it easy to do my daily cleaning. I usually have to wipe off the platforms every day because they like to go to the bathroom on them. I think this cage is a great home for gerbils and would even work well for a hamster. Overall we’re very happy with it and definitely glad we bought it!

I cannot speak highly enough about this product! Our gerbils are super chewers!!! I was desperate to find a replacement for our plastic pan cage since our boys kept chewing holes in it. THIS is it! It’s only been a couple hours and there’s a huge change in character. They love the wheel. They love the ramps to climb. However, the best feature is the tons of space to burrow!Assembly was a snap, It’s not heavy, & it’s sturdy with quality materials.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Jimmy & Captain approved 💯

So much more room and is fun to watch.
Great product. So much more room for our hamster to explore and have fun. We had one with a plastic bottom that she chewed out of and ran wild in the house for a couple of weeks. So glad we found and purchased and would highly recommend this.

Well made hamster cage.
Overall this is a well made cage. I love the size and the heavy glass bottom is extremely nice and thick and the wire cage top is also well made. However I wish the clips for the sides of the wire part that keep it together and attached to the glass bottom were better made . Also the water bottle is cheaply made and would not stay attached to the cage and the clip for the hide was cheap and broke. I needed to use my own wire to attach the hide and water bottle to the Cage. The ramp from the bottom to the first level is a little steep and my hamster kept sliding down the ramp so I had to add material covers on the ramps so she had more traction. But overall I would recommend this product and am happy with it. The main complaint was FedEx delivered the cage and left it by the road instead of bringing it to my front porch. I have never had a delivery person do that. Thank goodness my husband came home and saw it by the road and brought it into the house because it was a heavy box and before it was stolen.

qualitatively
For my son's birthday we bought a hamster and of course I spent a long time choosing a cage) I decided to take this one because it's big and has glass at the bottom to keep sawdust from falling out. Everything is fine. But, it's sooooo heavy! I can't move it!

I love this cage!
It's a pain to clean, but we have a litter box on one side and fill the rest of the aquarium with paper bedding. The rats love to burrow/hide in the bedding and make nests with the boxes we give them. Super cute! I also love that I can put a litter box (actually a storage tote) in the bottom. It's fun the be able to watch our pets through the glass!

The 31" cage is good; the 23.5" cage is not.
I RECOMMEND THE 31" cage, but NOT the 23.5" CAGE:-------------The 31" cage / PROs: It's big. Very big. The glass bottom part is good for gerbils because they dig and could also work for hamsters who tend to toss paper and whatnot out of the cage. It's got 2 levels and 2 ramps. The glass is easy to clean and can't be chewed through like plastic. It's tall enough that I could easily put in an 11" wheel and the wheel doesn't make the cage shake. You can get a lot of stuff and aspen shavings and shredded paper in this thing. Did I mention it's big?The 31" cage / CONs: It's heavy. I can't lift it by myself. If you're ready to assemble it, do it where you're going to house your pet. The top is not flimsy (like folks on Amazon UK said), but it's hard to get it to snap on to the bottom using the little clips. I'm worried that my gerbil will chew the clips. I replaced most of them with zip ties. The ramps, levels, and clips are all plastic, so again, I'm worried they'll get chewed. It's hard to disassemble to clean. Another thing--I'm in the midwest and because it's so heavy, I will have to move my pets to a travel cage to go into the basement for tornado alerts. I know. It's a midwest thing.I recommend this 31" cage for gerbils and hamsters.-------------The 23.5" cage / PROs: I bought two of these smaller cages for juvenile (young) gerbils. They are easier to lift, but still have a glass basin that is as deep as the larger 31" cage. The doors are big enough and the cage wiring and glass basin feel strong. The shelves are made of metal which is better for pets that chew. The 23.5" cage / CONs: They made the ladders and shelves out of metal. When I was first installing them, I found it was nearly impossible to install the metal shelves. Worse yet, the ladders are made of wiring set on top of a metal base. When I looked at them closely, I found that the wires were not attached to the metal ladder throughout--this means there are visible spaces where a pet's toe can be caught. This is very, very dangerous for hamsters and gerbils. I was pretty alarmed. I thought about trying to replace these ladders with something else that is safe, but don't have the materials or time to try and fix a cage that came at this price.-------------I ended up returning both 23.5" cages which is a real shame. In the end, I can recommend the 31" cage, but not the 23.5" cage.
