Well I bought these for neither of the uses suggested in the product name. Basically these things are giant q-tips with cotton on one end they are great for cleaning small parts and lots of other chores that require skinnier fingers than I have for access. They are now indispensable as an addition to my work bench. One of those products that before Amazon would have been impossible to find.

We use these to clean our golden retriever's ears, they are nice and long and hold plenty of the ear cleaning solution. A must have for dog owners!
