WOW!!
Thank you for this wonderful beautiful coffee table book. The book is quite large and the inside is filled with interesting quotes, poems and pictures.I've been wearing my hair natural for many years and my afro is so large that I get asked quite often if it's my hair, by people of color, so sad. Anyway I wished the Author of this beautiful book came up to Washington the west side, we have some naturals up here as well. Thanks Amazon keep on rocking. The Afro Naturals who aren't slaves to the creamy crack or trying to play it safe with the every day boring twist outs, dreads and braids, more power to you my sistahs and brothas, and if your asked... Hey is that yours, kindly smile and walk away with self pride within.

A Must Have For Any Naturalista
I absolutely adore this book! Being natural is not always easy. We are constantly bombarded with images of straight silky hair. Those images promote straight hair as "the" beautiful, glamorous and sexy hair. No matter how confident you are, it is sometimes difficult to stand tall and proud when going against the mainstream. During my moments of doubt, I open Michael July's book and celebrate the beauty and radiance of afro-hair. I appreciate the fact that the book contains photos of European and Asian people with afro-textured hair. The gift of hair that grows toward the sun is not only given to Africans! This book is a multi-racial and multi-cultural celebration that is much needed.

A most worth while purchase.
I had been on vacation in July and attended a hair show. I am a new natural and when I reached the booth with this tome on Afro's I was left speechless. A wonderful celebration of the same head of hair as my "new self"!! It even has a page devoted to a contemporary of my 24 year old loc'd Son!! It's not only deserving of my coffee table but I go back from time to time just to gaze at the beauty of Our Crowning Glory!!!

Afro-licious!
Micheal July's passion for his craft shines through in this ample coffee table book! Filled with stunning images, his lens beautifully captures the essence of our "hair-a-tage"! Brimming with clear and colorful photographs and personal commentaries of why each subject chooses to wear their hair in its natural state. It is a powerful testament to the culture of the 60's and 70's when the Afro reigned supreme! This is a must-have book for anyone who is, or wants to embrace their natural hair again!
