Just Another Maniac Monday (A Page Turners Novel Book 3)

Maniac Monday Made me Moderately Moody
I purchased Just Another Maniac Monday after getting Easy Like Sunday Mourning for free off of an email newsletter that lists books that are free and/or on sale. When reading Easy Like Sunday Mourning Edna was my absolute favorite character throughout the book so when I saw that Just Another Maniac Monday was centered around her I decided that it was a "must have". I don't usually purchase books because I live on a very limited budget. I was really looking forward to Edna's story but this book left me disappointed and kind of sad that I spent money for this book. The beginning of this book was focused on the past. I understand the need for the backstory in order to understand why Edna does what she does in the present but I found myself confused by the flashback The entire time I felt like I was reading something by a completely different author. Having read the other book by Jennie Marts I still felt like I knew her writing style and voice. But for the entire first half of the book, I was left wondering if I had purchased the book that I had wanted to read. Besides the voice being completely different, the amount of sex in the flashback was more than the amount in Easy Like Sunday Mourning in its entirety. I am not bothered by sexual content when it enhanced a storyline but this felt unnecessary and, at times, forced like it was trying to meet a word quota.Quite honestly I was almost at the point of putting the book down because I was so disappointed by what I was reading. Thank goodness for the second half of the book where it finally felt like Jennie Marts was writing again and Edna was back to her ornery, sassy, loud mouth, opinionated self. It definitely redeemed the book enough to make sure that it held my attention and brought me back to what I really wanted and was hoping that book would be. Overall, the book was a quick, quaint, somewhat unexpected book. It was not what I was looking for and while the ending helped I wanted more than the book was ultimately able to give.

A Blast from the Past
Book three from the popular Page Turners: Just Another Manic Monday by Jennie Marts lives up to the name. This time it is Edna's story and it's a real doozy, just like Edna herself. This review is not a spoiler. Edna finally reveals her story, and as she is eighty years old, it's long and colorful, and so is Edna. There are many surprises and a satisfying mystery in this, the third addition to Ms. Marts Page Turners series. This book is her most complex one yet.I do recommend reading It's Saturday Night and I Ain't Got No Body and Easy Like Sunday Morning first. These books are a fun departure from heavy subjects of other books, with some wonderful characters and their always unpredictable book club. I'm not sure they ever read or discuss the books, but the deserts and distractions are worth the time to join in their hijinksI highly recommend these books as these characters have become my new best friends.

Marts' latest romantic comedy/mystery delivers!
You can't go wrong with this romantic comedy filled with fun, friendship, romance and mystery! I love this series about this fun book club and how Marts focused on a new woman and her story with each book. Edna is my favorite character and I have been so excited for her book to come out. I loved the way the author took us between the past and the present, giving us bits and pieces of Edna's history, and taking us on a journey of suspense, mystery, and swoon-worthy summer romance. The chemistry between Edna and Johnny was as steamy as the hot Kansas summer! This was a fun romance/mystery and I highly recommend this latest book and the whole Page Turner series.

A funny, feel good read!
I really liked this book. The comedy and whit on the pages is a real mood lifter and the romance is nothing short of adorable. I read it on my lunch hour at work and it was the perfect break I needed, Some pages are a bit on the boring side (hence, the 4 stars) but overall a very good book. Word of advice though: There are a couple characters that come off as crazy and annoying, keep reading, it gets better. I thought the ending was worth it.

Sassy and sublime
Jennie Marts does it again with Book 3 of the Page Turners series. In Just Another Maniac Monday, octogenarian Edna takes centre stage. Having gotten to know Edna in Books 1 & 2 of this series, I was eager to read this one. She is a sassy, quick-witted and hilarious character. I was curious to see how Marts would pull off the romance aspects of the series with an elderly heroine, and I'm delighted to say she does it brilliantly. I loved the 1950's flashbacks, I loved the intrigue and I loved the comedy. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Funny- touching and creative!
Who says it is ever too late to recover that lost love? What if you thought that love had died but he's been alive all these years!? Edna was the scene stealer in the last two books and I'm so happy she has her own love story now. It can be read as a stand alone book. This flashes back to Edna falling in love in the 1950s and it's so wonderful the way the past intertwines with the present- mystery. It has a pinch of danger, a heart twisting reveal-tons of humor-and an all around cool love story. Highly recommend.

Delightful romance, told in a new way!
I was given this book early to review. Eagerly awaiting the third book in this series, I was excited to read about Edna, my favorite character in the other books. I was not disappointed to find her just as enjoyable in this tale. Jennie Marts is a great storyteller, Edna is like many women I know! A lot of the story is told in a flash-back, which involves the reader in the background of Edna and her lover. I love a series where the characters return in the future novels. Great story!

Go Edna!
Another Marts hit. I read all three page turner books and loved them. Each book has focused on one of the characters of the Page Turners book club. This one focused on Edna, the grandma member. Edna has been great in all the books as the elderly lady that is full of spunk and doesn't care about conforming to anyone's idea of how she should be spending her golden years (ah, my hero). She gets a blast from the past and the mystery ensues.
