Gainsborough 97554041 Electric Shower

I bought this to replace the exact same model, which had given up the ghost after nearly 6 years of daily showers with hard un-treated water. It is one of the cheapest in the range, and fantastic value for money. One simply turns it on adjusts the temperature and, well, takes a shower. The previous appliance worked perfectly up until the day it died, and all the butons and dials (one of each to be exact) showed no signs of wear and tear, even the head height adjuster was in as supplied condition. The hose was changed once, that was all. I couldnt fault the old one so this exact fit replacement was just the job (no neet to re-tile the shower). This model works just fine on the wiring in the house, so remember the higher rated models need the correct wiring, but honestly, this unit provides ample flow with hotter water than a man needs, and the girls are happy with it too. In summary this is a well made easy to use product that provides lots of hot water with good flow rates, and represents excellent value for money. Hope this review helps; I'd recommend it any day.

Unbelievable service and a really good product for the price. When my shower broke down I ordered a replacement at 10.30 am on the thursday morning expecting to wait until after the week-end. The shower was delivered at 10.05 the next morning and the old shower was removed and new one fitted by 11.00 am. The square shape looks better than the old oval one and was easy and quick to fit with no alterations at all. Thank you Amazon for the service and thank you Gainsborough for the great product. As a budget shower this one is great. Easy to install and reliable it isn't the hottest or most powerful but if price is your guide then you could do a lot worse.

Easy to install. This was bought as a direct replacement of my previous Gainsborough shower (8.5 SDL, which lasted 10 years). The pipes and even the screw holes for the back plate were all in the right place, which resulted in a nice neat job afterwards.The shower itself is noticeably more powerful than the old one in terms of water flow, and also makes the water hotter than the old one did. On the old shower I had to put the temperature up to max in winter (when the incoming water is colder), however on this 8.5 se then the max temperature setting is only for the ladies. Guys, you know what I mean.The build quality seems comparable to the old one, so I am hoping this one will last 10 years also.

Deeply disappointed - just had our new shower professionally fitted only to come to the end of the fitting process to discover the shower attachment to fit to the shower head to the shower riser is missing! Not acceptable, it is designed to be mounted to stand under and now this is impossible to achieve. Would not recommend as it is a complete waste of time and money!

Bought this to replace faulty Galaxy shower. Excellent, easy to fit, with good instructions ,once you work out how to remove the cover. This unit is the largest that I could fit to the existing 6mm wiring. Works well quality unit and very easy to operate. Will buy a Gainsborough unit again.

This shower was to replace the exact model we already had which had broken. We liked the shower but also it would fit exactly into the place of the other. The reason for only 4 stars is the attachments were not as before, the hose was really stiff and the metal bar that housed the shower head holder has now gone rusty. We use the hose from the old shower even though Gainsborough did post us another, which was just as stiff. Now we will get the old metal bar out (luckily we kept it) and use that. It seems Gainsborough are using poorer quality accessories than the older one we had which is a shame. Will possibly change to another make when we replace this one.
