desertcart.com This is not your grandmother's pressure cooker. After two generations of busy cooks employed pressure cookers to prepare family meals, the next generation with memories of valves dancing and hissing on stove-tops then snubbed pressure cookers. Now pressure cookers have come back, those old valves replaced by modern versions that ensure safety while delivering the speed, ease, and nutritional benefits of pressure cooking. This heavyweight 18/10 stainless-steel beauty is a fine example of contemporary engineering and style. Its mirror finish gleams, and its black handles stay cool. Its spring valve doesn't hiss unless too much steam has built up and the heat needs turning down. Two other valves offer backup safety, and the top automatically locks until all pressure has been released. Pressure-cooking traps steam to heat foods at temperatures higher than boiling. This cooker has an aluminum disk sandwiched by stainless steel in its base to speed the process even more through fast heat conductivity. Little water is required, so nutrients, flavor, and color are not boiled away. At 9.75 inches diameter and 3 inches deep, this 2-1/2-liter (2.65-quart) cooker resembles a deep frying pan. A waffle pattern on the bottom releases food quickly after browning. Cleanup is a bit involved: hand wash the cooker, rubber gasket, and lid with a mild detergent; lightly oil the gasket. Minor cleaning inconvenience, however, should not overshadow the major convenience of pressure cooking. Accompanying the cooker is a 92-page pressure-cooking recipe booklet. --Fred Brack Product Description DUROMATIC® Pressure Cookers are designed and made in Switzerland; they are available in a range of sizes to suit all families. Review: Pressure Cooking Pleasure - We have had a 5.25 qt Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker for 4 years, for daily use that one was a bit big to handle. We were looking for a smaller 2.5 to 4 qt pressure cooker for quick one time portion meals for 3- 4 people. We tried other brands, both for money savings and variety, and after being disappointed with the construction and quality returned them promptly. We decided to plunge again into Kuhn Rikon, ordered this 2.5 qt Pressure Cooker. Wife is happy - appropriate for small, quick meals, is easy to handle, clean, and store. It feels and looks solidly constructed which makes it slightly on the heavier side for it's size. If you are already familiar with pressure cooking then Kuhn Rikon is the best in class, and if you are already aware of Kuhn Rikon, there is nothing more to add. If the size is right for you, it will serve many, many years. Review: Beautiful! - I fell in love with the Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker the minute I took it out of the box. It's very sturdy, stylish and well made with a minimum of plastic. I'd emailed the company directly to make sure the desertcart products were in fact made in Switzerland. They responded within a few hours to all my emails and yes all of their products are made in Switzerland.( I had just returned a Fagor cooker for safety reasons but was also very disappointed that desertcart didn't print in their ad that it was made in China). I've only had the Kuhn Rikon for a week but so far it's very easy to use, the food tastes great and the clean up is quick. Using a pressure cooker one has to be confident in the product to fully enjoy the experience and this one works great for me. I highly recommend this product.

High-quality finish and works excellently
This has the feel of quality and has proved itself in my kitchen for about a year now; the raised top means you have a bit more space than the deep frying-pan appearance might suggest, and this keeps the valve clear of the contents of the pot, which is a good thing! Keeping things to temperature is simple - a needle valve rises up when steam builds and you adjust the heat to keep it between two red lines. The seal is smooth and precise, and the bottom (inside) of the pan is dimpled for... well okay, I don't know what for but it looks good :-)

Safety Issue
The frying pan is great; I bought two, one for me and one for my sister, but I had an issue with the safety valve after two years of using it. I ordered from Amazon the part to replace it. Now, my sister has the same issue. Unfortunately, I was not successful in finding this part. I think the company should make all the parts available for consumers to purchase.

Solid and functional
I've had a the 2L model for four years, and never had to replace any parts. I left that one at my second home so I will never be without one, and just purchased this 2.5L here. What seems like a loose screw on top is a simple, responsive and sturdy pressure release valve. The plastic handles would only melt if one were using a flame that extends beyond the sides of the pan. By heating it up at medium heat and reducing it to extra low once full pressure is reached, the flame will be nowhere near the sides of the pan, especially on this wider 2.5L model. This takes only a couple of minutes so I see no need for a roaring flame. Dual handles allow you to move the pan while hot, or hold it to run cool water from the tap over the edges for immediate pressure release when desired. The base is very thick so there is no burning of contents. The steam inside reduces all sticking and the lid comes off quite clean. I have electric rice cookers but almost always use the Kuhn Rikon instead because it is much faster and the texture of the rice is better. Only 25 minutes for brown rice, 5 minutes for white.

Buyers Should Be Aware — Quality Issues + Poor Support
1‑Star Review: Buyers Should Be Aware — Quality Issues + Poor Support I’m writing this review to warn other buyers before they spend money on this product. My Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker developed a serious defect: the handle broke off during normal use. This is not something that should happen on a product marketed as “Swiss‑made” and “premium quality.” I own far cheaper cookers from Hawkins and Prestige that have lasted for years without a single structural failure. When I contacted Kuhn Rikon, the experience raised even more concerns: • Defective part, but no warranty support Instead of acknowledging this as a product failure, the company immediately tried to charge me $20 for a small replacement handle, plus shipping. No goodwill replacement, no warranty consideration. • Outdated and unsafe payment process Kuhn Rikon asked me to send my credit‑card information through an unsecured email authorization form. This is not a secure or modern payment method. The FTC warns consumers not to send sensitive financial information through unencrypted email. • No clear warranty policy The company did not provide any explanation of their warranty obligations or how they handle premature part failures. For a premium brand, this lack of transparency is concerning.

Does a good job!!
I have been cooking using this pressure cooker and so far I like how quick it cooks. I have been using another brand for over 40 yrs. I like the quality of the Kuhn Rikon but was disappointed that a trivet wasn't included and had to buy it separately. The trivet is used for certain veget. I like the idea of the small size and can be used like a fry pan. There is a glass lid available when used as a fry pan. I have recommended this to friends and family. Two years ago I purchased a larger one for our son.

Jury is still out on this.
Even though this is my second Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, I'm having issues with this one.

pentola a pressione completamente diversa dalle altre in commercio

Fast slow cooker.
The quality is unquestionable. I had owned and used a full sized Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker for family meals for several years. After becoming an empty-nester I purchased this size to cook meals for only 2 people. It's perfect! Easy to use and easy to clean. If it has burnt food on the bottom - be patient and let it soak overnight. Then it will clean up easily.
