Great night splint - Easy to sleep with it on
I have been experiencing an intense flare-up of plantar fasciitis in my left foot. So, I went to Amazon (as one does) to find a solution (or group of solutions) for my pain. I decided on this night splint (Ovation Medical Hybrid Night Splint) because of its simple design. I have definitely experienced healing (but still have a ways to go) and am very happy with the splint. That said, I agree with some other reviewers that the foot can slip out of the brace. There are two options to prevent this from happening: (1) buy a velcro strap to wrap around the ankle and splint (you can get one on Amazon!) and (2) wear an athletic sock over the splint. Both work really well!

Uncomfortable to sleep with
Makes my foot go numb, the portion around the ball of the foot seems to squish my little toe, thus cause more discomfort. Even adjust the Velcro it didn’t help. The fit around the ankle/calf area doesn’t matter how much adjusting one does, it’s either really so tight that there’s more discomfort or it’s a bit too loose and thus not doing its job of actually splinting the lower portion. It’s ok, not great.

Helped reduce pain.
Helped my foot issues. Much better deal than buying it at my podiatrist's office

Plantar Fasciitis
I am a nurse practitioner and have decided to write this review based on my personal experience. However, you should not be self diagnosing yourself and definitely you should not be self treating yourself without consulting with your health professional. Remember that pain is a symptom and the list of differential diagnosis can be lengthily at times. Therefore you need proper evaluation to determine the cause of you pain.Having said that, I will now proceed with my personal experience. I was suffering from chronic plantar fasciitis pain to my left foot for about 6 months. I had tried several things including: several stretching exercises, over the counter in-soles and later started using medical grade orthotic insoles prescribed by my podiatrist.Despite of having done this, my pain persisted. During the day the pain was minimal with the orthotic insoles. However, every morning the pain would be severe as soon as I would start to walk and then it would lessen after walking a few steps. If you are reading this is because you have experienced "that severe pain" immediately after getting out of bed. After buying several on-line products I became disappointed. Some provide too much tension on your toes making it extremely uncomfortable to use them and others simply don't work. Then I came across this product. It takes a few days to get used to this device but once you do; you can tell it works. I started with mild traction and eventually worked my way to the maximum traction. The maximum traction provides the most stretch to the fascia allowing it to begin to heal while stretched. This healing process is slow and takes time. So you have to be consistent. After using this product every night for about 3 months my pain completely resolved. I have been pain free for about 6 months now. I do however, have to continue to use appropriate orthotic insoles in order to prevent re-injuring the fascia of my left foot. So far, I can not complain about this product. I no longer have the morning pain and I can't be any happier.Remember before you buy any product, PLEASE consult with your health professional to make sure they are in agreement with what you are wanting to do.

Doesn't work for me.
I have tested 3 different styles of splints for my plantar faciatis.a. "pull up from the front sock or soft type", Strassburg, or Mueller, or Alimed are examplesb. "pull up from the front hard splint type" Ovation Hybrid is examplec. "pull up from the bottom hard shell boot type" United Surgical or Bird & Cronin are examples.Conclusions:a. These don't stay up, and the angle of the tension serves to jam my toes into my foot more than provide the stretching lift.b. Better but again they cannot keep adequate tension on the foot to be effective. Plus the way that the boot wraps around the toes causes side-compression of the front of the foot and this is very painful after a short while.c. The best but bulkiest. The tension from the base of the foot gives me the most support and the least discomfort. I recommend this type. I recommend the United Surgical because of the front toe wedge that can provide additional stretch.
