Monoprice Laptop Holder Attachment for Desk Mounts - Ideal for Work, Home, Office Laptops, Black - Workstream Collection

I picked this up to take up the third space on my 3-monitor home office setup, to keep my laptop off the desk. I figured this way I could also use it as a 3rd monitor, and get rid of the free-floating webcam using one of my USB slots.This is a nice, solidly built laptop attachment. The VESA hardware is completely standard, so you know it'll fit where you want it to. It comes with 2 options for how you want your laptop to sit, flat or in a more "standing" position. The powder coating will keep it from getting scratched or dinged up. For the price, it's hard to beat.

The laptop tray has two mounting points where you can attach a VESA mounting bracket; one on the bottom of the tray, and the other at the rear (which is slightly angled). I've attached mine to the rear of the tray, and I'm not sure what would be the reason for choosing one over the other. Maybe the bottom mounting point is meant for mounts attached to a vertical surface, like a wall, while the rear point is for a horizontal surface, like a desk.Each of the mounting points has two holes that will fit a VESA 100x100 mounting bracket, as well as two holes for a 75x75 bracket. If your mounting bracket has holes for both 100mm and 75mm, as most that I have seen do, then you will be able to attach the tray with four screws. Otherwise, you will only be able to attach it with two screws, which probably won't be a problem since most laptops are a lot lighter than the monitors/TVs that the brackets and mounts are made to handle.The stand-offs at the bottom of the tray, that are meant to prevent your laptop from sliding off, are 7/8th of an inch tall (0.825 inches). The brackets to stop the laptop from sliding off the sides can move along the longest ventilation slot, so you can place them at a spot that doesn't cover up any ports on your laptop.I am using the tray with my Alienware 15m laptop, and it works very well with it. Maybe the standoff's could be just a little bit taller, but it's not that big a deal. The brackets on the side also help to keep the laptop from sliding off the bottom.

The attachment points are solid, the metal is solid, the venting seems well placed for my model but the arms have bad tolerances. They are either sticky or loose. Improve the source of this part and it would be 5 star

Let me start out by saying that I do not use this product as intended now, but I did initially and it was and is worth every penny!I have a small desk space with a multi monitor set up and the only thing the laptop is used for is accessing the server for work and video conference calls. I do not need my laptop taking up desk space or being in the way and this serves that function for me perfectly.I initially had it installed on the desk stand as intended which made it perfect for just swinging the laptop out of my way unless I needed it. I have since added another monitor to my set up and needed the space on the desk stand that was being taken up by the laptop attachment. No worries though, I found a way to adapt the attachment to mount it on the side of my desk and now my laptop literally hangs on the side of my desk completely out of the way and when I need it, I just slide it right out of the laptop holder and slide it right back in when I'm done.Moral of the story, whether you use it as directed or find another creative (at your own risk) way to use it, it's great. I love it!.

I'm very happy with this laptop tray. I was specifically looking for a tray that had something to secure the laptop so it wouldn't fall off. I saw a lot of vesa mount trays that were basically just a metal tray, with no way to secure the laptop from falling off. This laptop tray has two clips on the side which adjust vertically and horizontally. The vertical adjustment makes it so that you can place the clips in a place that does not block your input ports and the horizontal adjustment makes it so that you can hold a larger or smaller laptop, the horizontal adjustment also has locks so that your laptop is not loose.

Amazon told me to contact Monoprice about the missing parts, and I was shocked to find out they refuse to stand behind their product, and will not supply the missing parts.I am sure they have the missing parts, A & D the attachment plate, and screws, but for some reason, they refuse the simple act of sending them to me.DO NOT BUY FROM MONOPRICE!!!!!!!!!

This is the 2nd one I order - it replaced the first that I received used. The 2nd one came sealed and organized but the packaging wasn't strong enough as it came with some scuffs and a noticeable chip on the corner (pictured).Overall it does the job. It supports my gaming laptop during off hours and my work laptop during the day. I attached it to my existing arm with the included screws but didn't bother attaching the side supports (since I was swapping two laptops out repeatedly). I don't have the issue some mention about the bottom supports being too short - both my laptops are supported.For the price, it's the best value for its use - I've tried others that cost more but were of worse quality. I just wish they included some padding in the packaging.

I had been using a double monitor mount for the past year but seldom used the 2nd monitor due to having to use a specialized adapter and 3rd party software. (1st Gen M1 Macbook Pro). So when I reconfigured some things in my office I decided to go down to 1 monitor and the MBP, which I need to stay open for the fingerprint reader and occasionally the Touch Bar. This little tray works perfectly as it was intended to and allows me to securely get the MBP up off the desk with the screen centered next to my primary display using the mount I already had, saving desk space and adding convenience.
