T705 1TB SSD PCIe Gen5 NVMe M.2, Up to 13,600MB/s, Microsoft DirectStorage, PCIe 4.0 Backwards Compatible, Internal Solid State Drive - CT1000T705SSD3

I picked this up at a good price from Amazon resale. I didn't really want to spend too much on one like it and the offer was good enough for me to take a risk on a possibly second hand or fake item. Its a 1TB Gen5 M.2 SSD but my laptop can only perform up to Gen3. This should mean that this will still work but at a reduced performance, it won't generate the usual crazy amount of heat and then suffer throttling and then it also means that I have paid a reduced price for a part that will relevant in the future for many years to come. Delivery took a few days and what was received was a slightly out of shape box with the seal re-taped. The product itself looked brand new and I did as much physical and system tests to confirm that it was genuine. Everything points towards it being a genuine product. It is working fine and has given my old laptop a massive performance boost. So if for some reason the Crucial verification app was fooled, I have still gained a high performing SSD. The operating hours on it was basically zero if I remember correctly. I got this to extend the life of my old Asus ROG Strix GL702V gaming laptop. It is around 10 years old and Windows 11 doesn't officially want to work with it but you can still make it happen. The old HDD on it is still in good health and I recently doubled the RAM to 32GB but with all the modern software doing their thing, the start up process on it was really stretched out with full access being available after around 20 minutes but the HDD continuing to run at 100% for close to an hour. After installing the SSD, Fastboot to sign on is very quick and after signing on, I have full access to windows in less than 5 seconds and the SSD does what it needs to in the background with a percentage rate that I can't accurately remember but it was lower than 20%. This one thing has really changed the performance of my laptop which really means I won't need to buy a new laptop for many more years to come. If you download the Crucial software, it gives you a lot of hidden features you can activate to increase the performance of the SSD or increase the life like 'Over-provisioning' more space for the SSD chip to do its thinking which uses up more of your space but means the SSD will reduce 'wear' over time. I was happy to activate 'Over-provisioning' but it didn't work well with the cloning that I had to do to get my OS from my old HDD to the SSD. I have uploaded a performance screenshot from CrystalDiskMark to show the massive difference between what I have now compared to what it was prior.

Works great. Drivers haven’t quite caught up and total speed not reached but it’s super fast anyway. 2gb and above have slightly higher speeds.

Works in PS5. Just waiting for any to update the system to make use of the full speeds of these bad boys. You will need heatsink

Using with OEM heatsink (Asus B650 Prime Plus) and the system is literally flying. Basically no waiting times in order load virtually anything (Ryzen 7 series, 48 GB DDR4 5200 mhz and this little ssd). If you have purpose for that then it's definitely worth the money.

This SSD is insanely fast! I have another Gen 3 M.2 as well as this so i also decided to copy a file over to this new drive I first did 1GB but it was instant so I decided to copy a 30GB Video file just so i could see it copy and see the transfer rate in windows but it was so fast I couldn't see it. the 30GB file took windows about 5 seconds to calculate the data to copy but then once it calculated it it literally took 1 second to copy over 30GB with no exaggeration. Maybe one day all my drives with be M.2 drives like this. I have it connected to an asus X870 motherboard with a heatsink included on the board and its now been installed running constantly for 7 days and its at 49c which is a normal, so I'm really impressed with it.

It performs very poorly. I ran several benchmarks with this Gen 5 device and an old Gen 4 Samsung Evo was 5-10% faster. Boot up takes half as long again than Samsung. And as for their Crucial Central storage app,,,,It takes 3-4 minutes to load and does not work properly. The 2 1TB m.2 NVME drives show as 100% full when they are in fact 40% full. it also will not allow me to check the firmware. Crucial support were useless offering no solution at all. Very disappointed

Empezar diciendo que el SSD en general funciona correctamente, algo "calentorro" si no le pones un disipador, pero nada preocupante. Sinceramente nunca he tenido problemas con los SSD Crucial. Ahora bien, para los poseedores de un procesador INTEL CORE ULTRA de última generación: NUNCA vais a conseguir las velocidades anunciadas de este SSD ni de ninguno de ninguna marca que pase de los 12000 MB/s porque estos citados procesadores de INTEL son "defectuosos". No voy a entrar en detalles técnicos, pero de forma muy resumida, la alta latencia y el bajo ancho de banda a causa de un defecto de diseño, provocan esta limitación de poco mas de 12000 MB/s. Mas que nada lo digo porque he visto muchos comentarios de gente quejándose de que su SSD no alcanzaba las velocidades especificadas del fabricante...

Excellent SSD NVMe en Gen5. Les débits sont époustouflants, on atteint les débits théoriques ce qui est excellent à ce niveau là. Cependant il a tendance à chauffer fort, faites attention car les débits peuvent s'effondrer. J'ai ce SSD depuis plusieurs mois, rien à signaler, la fiabilité Crucial demeure sans faille.

The SSD has excellent performance and is SOLID as a boot drive, but it does tend to run hotter than drives based on Gen4. The temperatures average at 57°C and during high disk usage can spike up to 62°C, so make sure to use a robust heatsink or one that comes with your motherboard. You want to install it in the topmost NVME M.2 slot near the CPU for the best performance since some motherboards will run at slower Gen speeds in other slots. If you're are concerned of overheating, you can use CrystalDiskInfo to keep an eye on the drive and make sure it's not overheating from improper heatsink contact and also shows if you are maintaining your SSD health properly.
