READ THIS FOR INSTALLATION
I bought this product from Amazon and the first one arrived and after carefully installing the card, my Windows 7 32 Bit Computer would not find new hardware after I install the card and rebooted. The light on the card would not light and the Driver on the CD would not install. Of course I thought the card was toast. Wrong, I sent the card back thinking it was bad and the new one arrived, same thing, Would not find new hardware after reboot ect. I did a google search for startech drivers and found the support site. Clicked on the picture that looked like my card and downloaded the driver. This time the driver installed. it was about a 64 MB Download and it installed flawlessly and I was then able to use windows to enter my wireless key. I hope this helps other people buying this card.

Easy installation, but my computer has issues.
Installation is easy. Couldn't get my computer to recognize it properly. Device manager recognized it and indicated I had the latest driver, but I would get an error indicating a problem with the driver. Likely an issue with my computer and not the wireless adapter.

Won't Improve Your Internet
I get a strong connection with this adapter. It doesn't make the internet speeds faster unfortunately, but that's more on my provider. This little card is great. I wish it had Bluetooth too, but you can't have everything. My advice is if you can find another adapter that includes Bluetooth for around ten dollars more, it's worth the investment. I regret not doing so, and now I either have to buy another adapter or use up a usb slot for that adapter.

An affordable backup connection
A suitable backup internet connection at an affordable price. Purchased for installation into a mini case build, this unit ships with a low profile bracket and uses the single small connector on a Biostar board. The ads state 300Mb/s, (maybe in a perfect environment), but not in mine. Although it is shipped with a driver disc, I found that Windows 7 SP1 couldn't find it and didn't like the driver on the supplied disc, bummer. Anyway I found that the driver online turned it into a positive experience as it works at acceptable speed. I would not however suggest one for a friend or family member. Suitable backup but not a good choice for a primary WiFi connection, use a dual band to get over 600Mb/s service. (2.4 and 5Ghz)

Time for open chipset declaration!
One reviewer listed the chipset in this device as RTL 8192, which for a linux user is right on.I found after the cmd. (as root) " lspci -nnv | less " to my surprise the details were of a Ralink 5392 chipset. While an easy fix is available in the .deb RT 5390 file, and I happen to like Ralink chipsets, theproducers of these devices could easily list the chipset in the product description. The chipset drives ALL aspects of the device, and when vending a pci-e (x1) product that standard of revelationin product descriptions needs to be the norm, not the exception.

Works great on Windows 10
I got a new Linksys WRT1900AC wireless router recently, but my wireless PC adapter wouldn't stay connected to it. This was one of the cheaper options that had good reviews and is compatible with Windows 10, so I gave it a shot. It has performed perfectly. Easy installation and haven't had a single problem with it since I installed it over two months ago. Didn't have to install drivers, as Windows found them automatically. Can't ask for anything better than zero effort.

Very Poor Performance under Windows 10
Stay away from this card if you're running Windows 10. Although the drivers install without a hitch, it performs very poorly. The driver software showed 300Mbps connection and my actual download rate was 6Mbps. I tried the stock windows 10 drivers, as well as the drivers on the CD and downloaded the latest drivers from startech and mediatek (who makes the chip on these cards) and with the mediatek driver, I got it up to about 12Mbps. This was 15 feet from my router. My laptops, and phones, other wireless devices all get at least 20Mbps internet downloads connected at G speeds (and 60Mbps wired, that's my internet speed). This card got 6-12Mbps connected at G or N. I tweaked all sorts of settings, turned off QoS on the router, etc. I thought I had a bad card, so I ordered a replacement. The replacement was just the same. There's a possibility that this card just doesn't play nice with my router because it's pretty cheap (Cisco e1200), but I haven't had any issues with my other wireless devices and this router. Pay a little more and get a decent card, this isn't worth it. Even a wireless G card performs better than this.

Good one from Startech.
Excellent device - installed without any difficulty on PC running Windows 10 latest version. Have bought a number of Startech items, all of which have been good. If you don't need the facility for 5.0GHz then this is an excellent value card for 2.4GHz. The included Ralink WLAN utility is also good with a decent interface. The instruction manual dated Oct 2013 doesn't go beyond the Windows 8 OS, but the advertised compatibility with Windows 10 proved correct.

Good, cheap, works with Linux.
Works perfectly on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. Detected instantly with no additional config. Probably not the fastest but definitely faster than the usb stick I had been using, so I'm happy.
