Sennheiser IE 8, IE 80, IE 8i Earphone Upgrade Cable / IE8, IE80, IE8i Replacement Cable

I have bough Sennheiser ie8 about 8 years ago, and up until last month was using the original cord that the earphones came with. Unfortunately nothing lasts forever and the cable finally gave out on the right side. So i bought this replacement cable thinking that it doesn't have to be Sennheiser branded one. After two days of light use, the plastic coating the cable broke on the right side, after a week it broke in 4 places (both left and right sides). While the sound was still coming through ok that exposed the wires underneath and made them more liable to snap. I have never seen such a shoddy manufacture of a cable on even the cheapest earphones that come with a phone.Thankfully the refund process by amazon was smooth and fast.

OM cable was getting knackered, switched to this. No noticeable degredation in sound quality. The wire is definitely thinner so perhaps feels less solid, but that might just be more plastic on the OM version. It is very light and a better length then the original. It does not mould over the ear like e.g. Sennheiser OM cables, but it is so light and flexible that does not create any issues when wearing.

fantastic replacement for my 3 year old IE80 earphones the cable eventually died the original cable so i bought this i have to say for the price its fantastic.bass has increasedgold jack for better audio qualityfeels stronger than the originallightdoes not fall off my earswould i buy this again? hell yes

On first inspection cable quality seemed fine, and the sound quality seems good too.Unfortunately the cable hasn't lasted anywhere near as well as the original Sennheiser. Where the cable inserts in to the headphones the cable sheath began to fray away from the plug on one side within 5 weeks. I added a little glue to try and help, but before long the other side had done the same and now only 5 months on the cable is completely useless.The original cable lasted over 2 years with the same treatment, so can only really assume the quality of this is poor in comparison, I'd look elsewhere or go for the original which although more expensive is far more robust.

On arrival, the cable seemed to be perfectly fine. After about one and a half months of use, the cable's outer insulation became lacerated in six different places. Recently, the audio in the left earpiece has completely cut out due to the quality of the wire. For comparison, the wire that came with my headphones lasted for one and a half years.Spend more money to get a quality product.

I purchased this product on 16 April 2018 and as of today, only one side works. This is the second time i’ve bought a replacement cable. Particular prone to breaking at the bottom of the plastic cap that connects the drivers to the cable, the plastic pulls from the housing of the cap exposing the wires, which tend to break due to a lack of rigidity at the point. Quite disappointed reallly. I wont be purchasing a third cable.

Complete rubbish, poorly made. The plastic casing around the wire cable for the earbud plugs broke, leaving the wires exposed. Waste of my money
