Needed a new drum as lines started to appear in anything I printed. Was easy to install and cleared up the problem right away. Now printer works great with nice clean pages. No compatibility issues at all.

Fits perfect and my prints are smug free again

On the good side, it does basically work.On the bad side, it arrived with the green drum-removal level loose, not in place, and it was tricky to reinstall; I had to look carefully at the old drum to see exactly how it fit. Its print quality is fair; contrast is not great. And after installation, I had a few instances of black dots or lines on the page, which old Chinese drums also developed. That went away after printing a few sheets but I am worried they might come back. And there's also a sound of more friction than normal as the paper passes through. So it doesn't look like a great salvation for an oldie-but-goodie printer with almost 200k pages on it, just another attempt to save it without paying Brother's extremely high drum price.

Works perfect in my printer, however there is a simple installation cycle you need to follow or the drum light will remain on. You can download the manual for free from Brother. Instructions on the side of the box were covered by the shipping label.
