Bach Cornet Mouthpiece (3493C)

Piece too large for me. Works great for others.

This was used for a high school freshmen for marching band, it sounded very good. It was a great improvement over a 40 year old King 7M mouthpiece.

Ever since I began playing the trumpet many years ago, I have played on Vincent Bach mouthpieces and they are my favorite. It is my own fault that I give this one four stars instead of five. I prefer a Bach 3C on my trumpet and logically (I thought) bought a 3C cornet mouthpiece for a newly acquired horn when I joined a British style brass band, which does not include trumpets in its instrumentation. I found very quickly that the Bach mouthpiece gives the cornet a bright trumpet-like sound, good for jazz, orchestra, and marching band, but not for the British style band, which requires a softer, darker tone; the Denis Wick mouthpieces were recommended by my band mates for blending in a British style band. I purchased a Denis Wick 4 and a 2 and play on them exclusively in the band. I still keep the Bach in my cornet case and practice on it occasionally and may some day find occasion for its sound. (If you are looking for an "American sound" on your cornet, then add a star to this review).

A nice mouthpiece for a round, dark tone. Not as taxing as my 1 1/2 C, but fuller than the "standard" 7C. I bought a "used" one, delivered quickly and in almost new condition.

Bach is the industry leader in mouthpieces.The quality is always there.

I may not be the best person to review this because I'm not really a music person (I play cornet/trumpet). I would give it 5 stars, but, not knowing much about mouthpieces, I don't want to put ultimate judgement on it. I'm giving it 4 stars because the mouthpiece works and that's all I need.
