2.5lbs Lava Rocks for Plants, 1/5 Inch Black Gravel for Succulent, Cactus, Bonsai Tree, Pure Volcanic Rocks, Top-Dressing, Good Drainage

I use these to fill small canvas bags used to keep baby rehab animals warm. The lava rocks retain heat well (essential for this purpose). Canvas sacks are covered with soft, washable fleece (velcro closure); they are just perfect for little critters to snuggle up to! Works much better than raw rice, which is what I used previously.

They work well for mixing with soil, or using as a topper. I highly recommend making sure to wash them before use. They are very dusty.

I mixed the lava rocks in my potting soil for drainage. I like the dark color, it blends in. I will also use it as a top dressing, the lava rocks are the perfect size. I will purchase again.

I was suppressed how far this would spread. I have three jars that I needed to fill with the rocks and I still have 1/2 a bag left. The rocks don't smell are not dirty or have foreign materials. Works well to fill my jars and to cover the soil of my succulents ( which is helpful to keep out gnats. Very happy with these rocks.

First order was normal. Next order had pieces that looked like blue glitter. I don't know what that is but it was strange.

The product not only good for succulents, orchids and cactus but also great for bonsai too. I mixed them with akadama for most of my bonsai. It provides great drainage and not easy to deteriorate so it can be recycled. since it's porous so it holds water well.

Easy way to add some drainage to plant pots. Either to mix in or to put on the bottom of the pot. I currently have one of my orchids in it without any soil. Perfect for giving the roots support and plenty of air.

I was expecting the small pieces but if you're not aware they're all about 1/4 inch in size or less. Lava rock makes for a nice top dressing for plants, but can also be used in the potting soil because lava rock soaks up water and then releases it as the soil dries up. It's very useful for maintaining good moisture in the soil for your plants. This is a really nice addition for your gardening inventory.
