Using it for purposes unintended
Using it for an adapter in an automated drilling system so im not sure how well it would work as a tap holder

Brilliant accessory!
BEST THING ABOUT IT: ease of useADDITIONAL LIKES: fits ratchets or drivers, two sizesWORST THING ABOUT IT: nothing reallyADDITIONAL DISLIKES/CONCERNS: noneWARRANTY: none statedCOMMENTS (Function, Appearance, Quality): This is a brilliant accessory. Most taps come with small, hard to rotate handles. These two ‘sockets’ allow for the use of 1/4” - 1/2” taps in either a ratcheting handle or powered driver. I personally would probably never use a power driver since I am not nearly confident enough to ensure it would be threaded at the proper angle. However, when using a 8” 3/8”-drive ratchet this socket makes it easy to get proper leverage and to hold the tap at a 90 degree angle. I wish I had discovered this much sooner. One still needs to use proper lubrication, but it makes much less time consuming and uncomfortable than traditional tap tools. In addition to two different sized tap-sockets (1/4” and 1/4-1/2”) you also get a 1/4” socket driver and it comes in a nice, easy to spot (bright yellow) plastic case with a full width plastic hinge.MOST SUITABLE FOR: any tapping jobIS IT WORTH IT?: Yes, sir! At the current price of ~$20, I’d say it is a bargain for anyone having to tap threads into metal more than once.*PRECISE RATING: 5RECOMMENDATION: Buy it!(As always, I will report back if there are any durability issues with additional use.)PHOTO INFO (photos are loaded in order, but may be rearranged when finally posted):1) Closed case2) Opened case3) 1/2” socket fully closed4) 1/2” socket with jaws wide open (attached to 8” ratchet)On a personal note, I try to cover everything I think one might like to know about each product, especially something not covered in the listing. So, I hope you found something informative and useful in this review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Good luck with your decision.*Rating scale:5 = definitely buy again, happy to have it (exceptional in several characteristics,)4 = probably buy again (decent job of doing what I need, excels in one or two characteristics)3 = perhaps buy again after researching options (functions OK, looks OK, decent quality, average life expectancy but no outstanding characteristics) (in other words, average)2 = would not buy again (low end/below average merchandise and/or service, but not totally worthless)1 = sorry I bought it the first time (poor performance in several characteristics, no redeeming characteristics)Characteristics considered: Presentation/Packaging, Quality, Craftsmanship, Materials, Functionality, Utility/Versatility, Instructions, Ease-of-Use, Comfort, Value.

Excellent addition to my DIY shop..
At first I was not sure I would like this as I think you get the best threads when you are closer to your material. With the old "T" handle style tap holders it is easy to line things up straight up and down, giving you a straighter set of threads. The worst thing when tapping is to make your threads at an angle. No matter how slight it will affect the alignment of your bolt. I do not have much experience tapping metal, but I make threads in hardwoods all the time when I am making jigs for my garage DIY wood shop. The package arrived and I was excited to see what new tool or gadget I had ordered. The plastic case is very nice and is blow molded to fit the parts of this kit. I am not sure I would use this with a power driver, but using a ratchet worked really well. I was taught to back out your tap a 1/4 turn after each full rotation so that could be a pain if you are using power. For wood it is not as critical, but does help to extract the debris. This is a very well built set and should last for ever, so I am glad I ordered it.I think the price is fair for the quality you get and I do recommend it for the DIYer like myself. Not sure how it would hold up to daily use, but it appears to be sturdy.....

Cheap
Broke the first time I used it. Does not actually grip anything close to 1/2 in

Just the size I have been looking for!
I use a 3/8 drive ratchet on a tap holder that is about twice the size as the larger one of these. It has always been very handy but, there have been some spots where I needed a smaller holder. Well, my wish has been fulfilled! These are about as small as you can make them and may save you from disassembling some things that cost time and money. Both holders are quite sturdy and are easy to clamp down. Of course, they also include a driver for your screw gun/impact if you need it. They also come in their own storage case. Can't beat the deal at under $20. I am more than happy with this set and would get them again.
