I received this product very quickly within about 4 days of ordering it. As soon as I opened the packaging, not the bag the crystals come in but the mailing package, I could smell the menthol. These crystals are very strong and have multiple uses. I bought the crystals to use in homemade shower tabs. I just took a few smaller pieces, the crystals come in different sizes and thickness, I crushed the pieces and mixed them in. I added peppermint and eucalyptus oil. I let the tabs sit in a tray to dry and you could smell the menthol in the air, it wasn't very strong but like a light scent, perfect to help breathing/sinus troubles. I also crushed a crystal and added it to a diffuser and it has helped with my sinuses. I have sinus trouble pretty often and these have helped! I recommend these to anyone who's looking to make homemade products or add to diffuser or a humidifier, the 4oz bag is a big size and will last awhile since the crystals are high quality a little will go a very long way!

I was sick for a solid two weeks with a sinus infection. Nothing helped, not even my cayenne pepper nasal sprays. When I purchased this, I wasn't sure what to expect. All I can say is WOW, opened up the sinus after just a few minutes. I been able to breathe clearly since. You have to be cautious as this stuff is powerful. I simply loaded a bowl with boiling water, dropped a few crystals, mixed em in, they dissolve fine for me. I closed my eyes and inhaled for a solid 5 minutes. I wasn't sitting above the bowl, it was just close by. I recommend this product for a hot bath maybe, but for my purpose it was great. Quality is perfect, price I believe was fair, because a little goes a long way.

I've found that for aches and pains I like Zim's Max Freeze best. It has no heat like Icy Hot, Ben Gay, etc., just 7% menthol, and that icy feeling really works. So I got some Blue Emu that's only 2.5 % menthol and it's pretty lame in comparison. That's what got me searching for menthol on Amazon and I came across these. They are super cool. Just by looking at them you can see that they're unadulterated pure crystals. So I warmed the Blue Emu in the microwave for a short time and put about half a teaspoon of these crystals in. They dissolved almost instantly and I stirred them in. I don't know what percentage menthol I ended up with but, boy, it's icy and it works. I think I can make pain relief cream out of regular hand cream now, and this 4 oz bag should last a long, long time. Good value for the money considering how strong it is.

Very high quality menthol crystals. I ordered these to put in an all-natural version of Icy Hot rub I've been formulating. Recommended usage for menthol content runs at about 3-5% of overall formula. At 5%, this stuff makes a pleasant, tingling rub good for very minor muscle pain and relaxation. I found that this wasn't enough to combat the pain from the huge knot I have in my back. I upped the formula to 10% and let me tell you, the menthol is really powerful. The goal was to be able to take a pea-sized amount to rub into a target muscle and feel almost instant relief. At 10% I was able to achieve this sensation and it feels amazing. The sensation lasts upward of 30min to an hour. I would keep these crystals away from kids and animals to be honest, also wash your hands with soap and water after handling the crystals or any formula you put them in! I cannot stress this enough, someone could really burn their eyes with this stuff. It's that strong.

I originally bought this to make my own icy hot. I was sick of spending $10-$30 on numbing creams that don't work or aren't as strong as I needed them to be for pain. I have a herniated disc in my back. I just had surgery in May 2016. Then 4 months later I herniated another disc and will need another back surgery. I'm holding off on that as long as I can. needless to say when I have a bad flare up I need something to Mask the pain until the steroids start working. That seems to be the only thing to clear it up. So I need something super strong!!! A lot of reviews said to be careful not to touch the crystals with bare hands bc it burns. I didn't have that problem but I guess be cautious. I also read online not to use too much of this either bc it can be too strong and start burning however the reccomended amount in some recipes wasn't enough to get it as strong as I needed it to be. I found myself adding more and more slowly then testing it until I was satisfied. It does work just takes more then expected. I used almost half of this bag before I got there. It actually could still be stronger. I haven't had any bad reactions. Only thing is that it doesn't last longer tan a few hours, just like most numbing creams. I'm hoping I can find a way to make it last longer. I'm still learning though and doing research as I go along. Along with these crystals I added coconut oil, (not fractionated) peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, lavender oil and vanilla oil . The reason for vanilla and lavender was so it wasn't too strong with the menthol so adding those calmed it down a bit and smelled much better. You can still smell the menthol but isn't as bad. I don't think it's possible to cover it up completely unless you use an entire 10ml bottle or even more of EO and they are expensive so it would take a lot. By using coconut oil it help it form into a cream when it's at room temp or Kept in the fridge. It goes on much easier this way . It prevents the oil itself from from getting all over the place. In hot temps it will turn back to liquid form. Which is why I kept it in the fridge. You can also use this as a Vicks rub. It will clear up your sinuses. I hope this helps other reviewers. The info I provided is what I like to read when reviewing a product like this one so I have a better idea as to what it can be used for. I never made a cream like this until recently. I think it came out very well. I will probably buy this product again in the future. Unless I can find another brand that is stronger. If that's possible. Again I'm still researching. And I suggest you research it too. After all you never know how your body will react with it. One more thing I want to mention is that you definitely need to use this in a well ventilated area while making your products!!! Especially if you have pets, children or other people living in your home. It is strong scented after all. I had a house fan, kitchen fan and a few windows open and my house still smelled like strong menthol. After your products are made and have settled it shouldn't have that effect.

I purchased this product considering the reviews from other buyers. I smells mint really strong, but when I put two piece of it in the oil defuser, it didn't make that much smell in the room. Not bad in total, works fine.
