Dynasty Hardware Round Bed/Bath Privacy Pocket Door Latch Satin Nickel

See the pictures, but this pocket door lock is far better than the Kwikset one I replaced it with. The Kwikset one was less than a year old and I could rarely get it to lock properly, but after installing this lock it locked on the first try and was so simple. The Kwikset mechanism was always very difficult to turn and the only way to get it to lock was to use pliers. With this one you can easily do it with fingers with little effort. If you're only replacing an existing lock the only tool you will need is a Phillips head screwdriver.

Pros: Brushed nickel finish looks good, uses standard measurements for doors that already have a lock bore.Cons: one plate has squared off corners, other plate has rounded corners. Followed instructions to use a nail to find the exact center of where the door will hit the lock plate. Still had to adjust the door vertically ~3/16" to get the lock to accurately engage. Parts feel like they'll wear out with minimal locking use. Pull handle isn't intuitive for guests - all have asked how to pull the door shut.I did a lot of research on pocket door locks and this seemed to be one of the better options on the market. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anyone has really solved the need for a pocket door lock that is easy to use and will last. I'm satisfied with this lock for now, but will continue to look for something better in the future.

I replaced a Kwikset Privacy set with this Dynasty set due to the quality, substantiality, and ease of use over the Kwikset already in place. I have reviewed the matching passage set of Dynasty in another review and would recommend that my thoughts of this set over Kwikset set are elucidated clearly. I just await the availability of the Dynasty set X 2 to complete my conversion. A VERY quality product for me in that the finish, smoothness of operation as well as the solidness of the body barrel housing the mechanism is vastly superior to the Kwikset, which is stamped steel, cobbled together in a not so stable and substantial way. 'Nuff said!

The install was typical of a new door handle install which I have done multiple times so not an issue. I really like the templates provided. The quality of the product seems top notch - I especially like the handle for locking and unlocking which has more leverage versus the older button style. The main issue I have is that the strike plate hole is too narrow. Pocket doors swing. Using the suggested location from the directions lines up the strike plate but only as the door is resting. When I attempt to lock the door, I have to push against the door to push it towards the jamb. That puts the door edge about 1/8” off center. If the strike plate was 1/4” wider, this would not be an issue. The workaround is to extend the locking mechanism prior to closing the door and inserting it partly into the strike plate (two handed) then closing the door completely. Unlocking and opening is a quick one hand affair. It is a simple workaround but inconvenient (I have to educate my guests). The finish is somewhat easily rubbed off - for the edge plates, I named a small amount of wood filler which needed to be sanded with a 0000 steel wool. Takes the “bushed” part of the brushed nickel away. No worries, looks great.

We purchased this item to transform an old, traditional swing-style door into a pocket door and we specifically needed it to be able to lock since it was being used for a bathroom. We were very pleased that we were able to get this in a satin nickel finish to match our new hardware. We had it professionally installed by our contractor, and he said it was no more difficult than installing a regular door knob. So far we have been very pleased with the look and functionality!

The door lock is good but it is little hard to turn the small handle back and forth, twisting the latch is little tough because of the small grabbing area, as you see in the pictures, but overall, it does the job. There is another door lock with an easy lock mechanism by pressing a button but made of plastic, I think it is easier to use. But as a review for this item, it works fine just be aware of the little discomfort of twisting the little knob.

Originally was super hard to lock and still hard to unlock but I took it apart and greased it up. I also filed down the tooth a bit to lock a little easier. Now it opens and closes like butter.I wish they made a version with a lock/unlock knob on both sides. This is for our sons room and I ended up welding something to the back side for it to work but doesn’t look great

I am not a fan of the generic, pocket door latches and locks. I actually wanted one that works. This unit works great! It actually locks the door.The end of the bolt has a spring loaded finger pull for closing the doors. Great feature that works well.Overall I am quite happy with this purchase.

this is not the best picture for the product, there is a hook that will lock the door when it is fully extended. I did not see how it was working until i received the product.
