Be smart
The media could not be loaded. This is a good product if you can do your research and use logical thinking. Obviously dirt in the pump is a no go.. i created a dish of sorst usiing a rock feature. I drilled small holes so water can get in i put the hydro balls inside of the rock feature but the whole bottom layer of the vivarium was filled as a drainage layer. Lots of landscape matt will continue to help keep debris out of the pump and seperqte my drainage charcole and substrate layer.. I did drill holes to make the rock feature a water fall and an so happy with the result. Can't wait for the habitat to stabilize and to bring the crested gecko home.

Not Very Good, But Somewhat Useful if You Absolutely Need a Compact Self-Contained Portable Battery-Powered Automatic Sprayer
Update: In my first review two days ago, I had given this unit 2 stars. However, 22 hours after I put the unit into service, the already-weak and feeble pump which drives the spray/mist nozzle died completely, and there was nothing I could do to ressurect it, short of ripping apart the unit and rebuilding it with a new pump.Amazon has already authorized me to return the now-dead unit for a complete refund. So, I have reduced the star rating of my review from 2 stars to one star. As I had noted earlier, and as numerous other reviewers have noted, both the design and construction of these units are extremely poor, and the units are very unreliable. This is a very low-quality unit. I recommend that you DO NOT buy one!~~~~~ my earlier review from 2 days ago: ~~~~~I recently bought this latest version of this Zoo Med Misting Machine here on Amazon;. I had bought an earlier version of the same model back in 2003, and kinda hated it, because it was so cheaply designed and built, and because the "mist" from the single onboard nozzle was not much more than a dribble of water droplets, and it certainly never emitted anything resembling a true mist or even a true spray. I ended up throwing that earlier version of the unit away after a month or two, because it was so ineffective. The manufacturer claims that they have since re-designed the unit and that they have also upgraded the pump to a quieter and much more powerful version. My experience with the latest version is that it is considerably better than the original 2002-2003 version in terms of pump power and strength of the spray stream, but the stream is still rather laugahable, as it certainly would not qualify as a mist, and not really even as much of a spray. To give you an example, a single spray squeeze of a simple and inexpensive hand-held manual spray bottle of the type that is usually sold at a hardware store for less than $3 will deliver, in one squeeze, a spray that is 15 times finer (in terms of droplet size), 20 times as powerful, and that reaches at least 8 times farther than the spray from this misting machine..In fact, the spray from the nozzle of this so-call mister, which is not a mister at all, but rather a feeble spray machine, reaches only a few inches, and if you try using the 2-nozzle extender hose/nozzle set that is provided with the unit, the performance of each of the two nozzles drops even further, simply because the pump is so underpowered and ineffective. I am thinking of ripping apart my unit and replacing the pump with a 6 volt DC automotive windshield washer pump.Bottom line is that this unit is not very good, simply due to the very weak and downright feeble spray stream, but it is somewhat useful if you absolutely need a compact and entirely self-contained portable battery-powered automatic sprayer, as did I for my current application. While this unit also will operate off 120 VAC using the 120 VAC to 6 VDC power adapter included in the box, I bought it because it will also operate off 4 C-size alkaline cells, and I needed the device to be totally independent of AC power for use in an outdoor setting.About the only positive thing that I can say about this device, aside from the fact that it is compact and self-contained (at least when operated on the 4 internal C cells), is that the pump motor in this newest edition is extremely quiet.

how to actually make it work....
Okay...this is a tricky thing to get to work. It took many trials and errors. So let me help save you a lot of frustration:1. Pick out a piece of throw-away tupperware.2. Cut a hole in the lid just big enough to fit the waterfall hose through.3. Drill lots of little holes in the tupperware bowl.4. Place waterfall motor in thd bowl and suction it to the bottom.5. Select waterfall intensity (medium worked best for us).6. Run tube through lid and connect it to the motor.7. Close lid.8. Place bowl in bottom of EMPTY terrarium where you want it.9. Fill the bottom of the terrarium with hydroballs that have been thoroughly rinsed while holding the tupperware bowl down to the ground. Fill with hydroballs to the top of the container's edge.10. Place screen mesh over hydroballs edge-to-edge in all directions of water feature's perimeter.11. Add a thin layer of moss (keeps substrate from making the water merky).12. Add substrate.13. Add other stuff (rocks, vines, plants, etc.).14. Add water.15. Plug it in and watch it flow.

Leaks like crazy
I am using this in my crested gecko tank.Initial setup was easy peasy. But then when I turned it on, water began leaking from the sprayer end( the sprayer in the unit itself) , which I tightened as much as humanly possible,Then it suddenly blew the hose off of the barbed fitting and sprayed water all over my wall and floor.I tried zip ties, and teflon tape, and it won’t stop leaking.I have resorted to keeping a small catch bowl under neath to collect leaky water.

Close but could have been better
Well when I received this in the mail I had high hopes the nozzle they provide didn't work well so I swapped it out with a nozzle from a mist bottle that helped to disperse the water a little better than just a stream but if you're looking to mist this will not do the job the pump is just not strong enough they should have done a little more research on the power of the pump needed to give you what the product calls itself Habba "MIST"After 3 days I noticed that the water that it sprays onto my plant and glass for my reptiles dried up quickly but it was making a lake under the Repti- Bark so I took it out and bought a waterfall which is much better the waterfall keeps the humidity up just have to make sure it does not run dryhope this helps you make your choice

Works great!
Ordered this for my Tokay's and they spend most of their time in it during the day! Worked perfect for what I needed. They cram themselves in here together. Hilarious. I always point the ends toward the front of the tank so I can see them in there. Works really well! Thanks!
