The Caller

Smart but disappointing
I rented this B movie mainly because it was filmed in Puerto Rico and I wanted to see scenes of my island. A low-budget movie, although I recognized a coupe of locations (which is always satisfying), the action took place mainly indoors, most of it in the main character's dark apartment. The second disappointing aspect came from the story line, which though smart and unique (at least for me), took too long to develop. The many 4 and 5 ratings make it sound like this movie is a gem, but I didn't see it shine.Additionally, the cinematography was dark and confusing, mainly in Mary's apartment, where most of the action took place. Luis Gómez is a much better actor than we see here; I wonder if the director is responsible. I can't understand the reason for the husband's character, other than to show, at the very end, that Mary has learned to take charge of her life. There is never an explanation of the parallel time periods, and how Rose appears in certain photos or knew the little girl that is introduced toward the end. Last but not least, the phone where Rose's calls came in was no longer in use in the 2010's when the movie takes place.I'm glad I only paid $2.99 for the rental.

Underrated thriller
I thought this movie was fantastic. The problem is people confuse horror and thriller. This is more thriller than horror. Kind of a VERY dark version of Back to the Future and Frequency. What happens when you change the past so much that it changes who you are in the present? This is low budget but in a good way and although the genre bills it as supernatural thriller it is more psychological thriller than anything else. I am not sure why people are having trouble understanding it. Either they are under thinking it or over thinking it. Its actually kind of straight forward considering it has to do with time and its affects on a person's personality. Anyway good movie.

TOTALLY KREEEEEEEPED ME OUT!
AWESOME! This film did not disappoint. I prefer my horror films to be more intelligent, smart and not full of gore slashing, etc. I love films like Silence of The Lambs, Hannibal, Hannibal Rising to name some Hopkins examples. This is brilliant. Suspense original idea (though Twilight Zone had a slight version of their own). Odd flow but awesome suspenseful performances. Great plot, great ending.

Original/Creative Psychological Thriller Even For Those Who've Seen It All.
Don't be put off by the cover art and while you're at it, don't read any other reviews. If you enjoy mind bending psychological thrillers and you've seen it all, this will be up your alley.I can honestly say that the plot is original and fits right in with any Twilight Zone inspired films. Not quite a classic or one you'll watch more than once but the first time around is well worth the rental.

Not perfect, but satisfying
If you're looking for action-packed or lots of blood, this isn't the film for you. There are a few mostly useless "scream-inducing cat jumping out at the protagonist" type moments.I watched on Instant Video, so none of the awkward editing mentioned by another reviewer. The Caller is a slow-paced thriller, very reminiscent of some of Hitchcock's works. It does require that you think to enjoy the story.

A Riddle to workout
Another phone ringing thing, and that aside, we're taken into a sort of ghost story connected to the past meeting the present. The threat sadly doesn't pervade as we encounter a puzzle, but having said that, it is a very decent film.

Suspense thriller!
This is a very strange film, you need to see it as an attempt to get inside a tortured mind. The producers probably spent next to no cash for sets. If you liked Hitchcock, and you believe ghosts exist, then you might like this. I watched it once and then packed it away!

Is Bobby There?
The Caller grabs you immediately and leaves you wondering what will happen next, for the entirety of the film. The plot is different to a lot of other modern thriller/horror movies, and I found it very refreshing and enjoyable to watch. Not the best film I've ever seen, but definitely not the worst!

Something Missing
Ok start and a good performance by Rachelle Lefevre, but I don't know, there's something missing, it just doesn't do it for me.
