Good thermometer but if using rechargeable AAAs make sure they are 1.5v
I got this thermometer specifically because it uses AAA batteries, while many other thermometers use disposable button batteries. I have a ton of rechargeables on hand, some of which have been in use for 10+ years, which is a lot more convenient and environment friendly than stocking disposable batteries, so I prefer using rechargeable AAAs. The thermometer itself is great, seems to be pretty accurate to within 1°, and I've been using mine for about 2 years now and it's still going strong. Love the magnets on the back as it allows me to just stick the thermometer on the vent hood above the stove for quick access, and the large LCD display is very bright and easy to read. It does however have one design flaw: When the thermometer detects a low battery, it replaces your temperature reading on the display with "Lo". This becomes very obnoxious because it takes a few seconds for it to return to your temp reading. The "Lo" will continue to replace your reading every several seconds, making the product tedious to use until you replace the battery. This would not be a problem if the "Lo" only appeared when the batteries are ACTUALLY low, but the problem is that they seem to have designed this with only 1.5v AAAs in mind and clearly did not test it with common 1.2v NiMH rechargeable batteries, which is mind boggling. Even when you put in fully charged NiMH batteries, it will still detect it as a low battery, and obnoxiously replace your temperature reading with "Lo" every few seconds. The thermometer itself has no issue running on 1.2v NiMH rechargeables, but it's practically unusable due to the temperature readout constantly being replaced with "Lo". Fortunately, 1.5v Li-Ion AAA rechargeable batteries are a thing, so I started using these instead and the "Lo" problem disappeared. ThermoPro, if you ever read this, maybe make your products compatible with 1.2v rechargeables, or make a low battery indicator off to the side which does not interfere with the temperature reading.

Effective and easy
This is the second time I have purchased this thermometer. I believe I had the first one for over year before I broke it (I accidentally dropped it in the sink full of water and didn’t notice until the next day). It simple and easy to use. I like the magnets on the side. I keep it on the side of my microwave so it’s always handy

Excellent Thermometer
Just received this thermometer which I purchased as a gift. I purchased a thermometer from the same manufacturer a couple of years ago that I really like. It provides extremely quick temperatures and is great for the barbequing I do. It costs over $100 and I am completely happy with the cost considering how much it helps with cooking things perfectly. I agree that cooking without a great thermometer is like driving without a speedometer. You know you are moving and have an idea of how fast you are going but you aren't really sure. I was shocked to see that this $20 thermometer is just as good as the $100 thermometer I bought a while ago except the device itself is superior in construction. It has magnets so it holds to metal. It is smaller and feels better in the hand. Even with its small form, it has a large enough display that is readable for me without reading glasses (I'm in my 60's so almost everything needs reading glasses these days). It is built very well and works great. I was quite surprised at the quality given the low cost.

Value for money
This is my first ever kitchen thermometer so I can't speak to how the thermopro compares to other brands, either in build quality, accuracy, or ease of use. Having said that, I'm quite happy with it so far. From my limited testing, it reads temps more or less accurate-freshly boiled water read 214.2 F and when I stuck it in the fridge for 5 minutes it was only off by .6 F from what was displayed. The build quality isn't the best, it feels plastic-y in the way cheap plastic toys tend to, but for just over $20 I can't really complain. Other's have complained about buttons- or lack thereof, but I found the touchpad works fine and has reasonable sensitivity settings. The display numbers are large and easy to read and the magnets on the back make for a convenient means for storing it on the fridge. All-in-all I'd say it's a great value for money. Edit: 7/8/2020- 2-ish months of use. So, after about 2 months of use, the only issue I've come across is that one of the magnets on the back of the thermometer fell off. It's a simple fix: some superglue and a little time, but it's still an annoyance that shouldn't have occurred after only 2 months. It's still a good, cheap thermometer, but I'd dock it 1/2 star for the build quality fail.

High quality and temp accuracy and looks and feels classy
I am probably a bit embarrassed at how much time I spent on the internet researching which replacement cooking thermometer after the good one we had for a decade, unfortunately finally gave up the ghost during our Christmas holiday cooking season. I settled on this one based on its posted specifications and customer reviews. It is slightly larger than our former cooking thermometer, but this is probably so in order to accommodate its nice, large temperature display which is a welcome upgrade to our old, formerly reliable thermometer. You can take the temperature with the probe bent which was handy the other day while reaching through the oven shelves, and the function is very intuitive - just hold in the power button to turn it off, though it states in the owners manual that it will shut off by itself after a reasonable period if you forget to push & hold the power button. Finally, it looks classy and the red LED characters stand out nicely in our bright kitchen lights.

Impressive!
My last so-called instant read thermometer died, which I wasn’t sad about because it didn’t perform that well. You had to hold it for a long time which could get really hot on your hand if you’re grilling and the done numbers were off and I had to go 10 numbers below what it said to not completely dry the heck out of the chicken! With this probe,!as soon as you stab it it’ll calibrate correctly then go a little bit lower up to that number again, but you don’t have to hold it in for long. I went by the recommended chicken 165 exactly and then took it off. Not sure if it was the chicken or the marinade, (thinking that it was the came with spices & marinade) but some red did come out as it was resting. I was afraid I would find undercooked chicken and I have to start the barbecue again or yuck finish it in the microwave. I cut into perfectly cooked super juicy chicken! I like the bright digital read out and wanted one with an on off button like before. They sell some without that auto shut off, but not what I wanted. The probe locks into place and my other one actually ended up springing out into the drawer several times by itself and finally that’s what broke it. I think it’s well-made and well worth the price especially getting it on special.

Great Gift for Culinarians
Since that other well known manufacturer of these stopped selling on Amazon I found this alternative. It doesn't seem as well made and I can't get it in the color I want but for the price I can buy it five times over for what the other one costs. If you are not familiar with thermistor thermometers and want to know why you should have one the answer is speed. It gives you an accurate +- 1degree reading in about 1 second. That is important when you have removed the grill cover or opened the oven door. It is fast enough to allow multiple readings during you check. Unfortunately this model can't be calibrated so you may have to compensate for it. As with any new equipment check it against known standards. Put it in a glass of ice water and it should read 32 farenheit. In boiling water it should read 212 degrees when immediately removed from heat. It probably won't but you'll know how much to add or subtract to get the correct reading. I just did this and mine read anywhere from 212 to 214 depending on the area sampled. The ice water measured 33 to 34 depending on the sample location. I did not know that it has magnets on the back when I order it and was pleasantly surprised. Mine gets displayed on my refrigerator door. Kinda nice not to have to dig it out of a drawer. The switchblade feature is nice for terrorizing wannabe chefs-in-law that invade your kitchen or patio while you are working. Just kidding. It doesn't open all the way on spring action alone. Fortunately, I have an array of chef's knives. If you think you or someone else might want one, get it you or they won't be disappointed.

High-quality product!
Very pleased with this cooking thermometer. It is good quality, very easy to use and has already improved my cooking by giving an accurate temperature reading on deep-fry oil. Now I know why I was not getting the desired results previously. The thermometer I was using was inaccurate and I was cooking at too low a temperature. Foods were turning out soggy instead of crisp. Yesterday I used this Thermo-Pro and got the best fries that ever came out of my kitchen! They were crispy and not greasy, which I've never managed before. I am so glad I bought this thermometer. And it has two small magnets on the back so it can be kept nearby and available when needed. Mine is on my fridge so I always know where it is. Highly recommend this if it matters to you to cook at proper temperatures, or to test foods for doneness. 10/10
