Great for an avr with power amps you don't need on when it's not
Needed something to power off power amps when my receiver turned off. DC controlled strips were an option, but cost considerably more. This works fine with my receiver as the master. My only gripe is the socket spacing. They should have spaced them out a bit so ac/DC adapters fit better. Had to use my 1' extension cords for a couple ac/DC adapters for my eq and led lights. Dunno. If I would use with a computer but awesome with an avr. I got a similar unit (without coax or network surge) at the dollar store (Comed subsidy cheap price) that works as well, just had too short a cable, and needed to ground coax to prevent buzz, so still a decent value, just 30x as expensive as my sunbeam dollar store one

Had it for a few years, and am still using it!
I bought this for my computer a while ago and before I was plugging my computer directly into the wall, which you should not do. I am glad I bought this bacause after having moved a few times I have lost plenty of electronics to bad sockets except for the ones that I have plugged into this surge protector. I definitely trust Cyberpower with my valuable electronics.I plug my computer into the main socket and my monitors and other peripherals into the sockets, so when my computer goes to sleep, electronics I am not using power off as well. With the amount that I use my computer, the amount of energy I save by doing this is greatly appreciated. It is very durable and can also be mounted on a wall for easier cable management. It also includes cord labels to further assist cable organization. For the price and quality, I would definitely reccommend this to a friend and buy it again!

Works well, just not for every situation
The reviews that say that it doesn't keep the power switched on to the slave outlets when the master is hooked up to an LCD/LED TV are correct. I originally had this configured to power on an amplifier (on a slave outlet) when the TV turned on, but the initial power on of the TV would power the amp on then, it would drop enough that the power would turn off on the amp, then once the signal was processed on the TV it would kick it back on again. I didn't want the amp power thrashing like that. I ended up moving the master power to drive off my receiver. I was a bit concerned that I would get amp thump, but that isn't the case, so powering off the receiver works just fine for me. What I really needed was a power sequencer, but I wasn't willing to drop that kind of coin. This serves its purpose. Just know that a device that has low draw or wildly fluctuating draw may cause the slave outlets to turn off from time to time.

I love the power saving feature of this surge protector
I love the power saving feature of this surge protector. It leaves the little "standby" light on all the time on my TV, which is plugged into the "master" outlet. This is the only vampire power that I am wasting now. All of my gaming systems and other connected components only turn on when the TV is on, so I am saving a lot of power. It also has an on/off switch if you want to completely cut power to everything, and it has nice indicator lights to show you if the outlet is grounded and if your devices are being protected. My one complaint is that the configuration of the outlets makes it hard to use all of the outlets available. I also might be willing to sacrifice some of the "always on" outlets for more power-saving outlets. That being said, I doubt that any surge protector can anticipate and satisfy the needs of every user. I have never had one that perfectly fits my needs. There are too many oddly shaped plugs that take up too much room on a surge protector. And it is hard to anticipate how many "always-on" vs power-saving outlets people will want.

Energy Efficient slots either will not work or work when ...
UPDATE:So it came to me in a dream. All the grey outlets ("Always outlets") draw power at all times. On the same side is a green outlet, the "master outlet". On the opposite side is are "controlled outlets". Controlled Outlets will only allow for power to be drawn while the device plugged into the "Master Outlet" is turned on. So, plug the TV into the Master Outlet and the video games, dvd player, and other devices used with TV into the Controlled Outlets. That way, whenever the TV is turned off, all accompanying devices will also be turned off. Or, if the modem is plugged into the master outlet then it will run all the time causing all outlets to become "always outlets".Energy Efficient slots either will not work or work when initially plug device in but then give out and won't come back on. For instance, I plugged my laptop in and it charged device. I left came back and it had stopped providing power when laptop went into sleep mode. I turned laptop back on and the power did not turn back on. I then had to unplug device and replug it... this worked in retriggering the flow of electricity maybe 50% of the time.

Good product. Saves power. Friendly to the environment. Could use more wide-spaced outlets.
Great idea for separating electronics you want on constantly (routers, modems, DVR's) from ones that don't need to be (Blu-ray players, receivers, gaming consoles), so they won't keep drawing power on standby. I used to separate them by using 2 surge protectors/power strips and had to go and turn one off before going to bed. I do wish they would have spaced a couple more of the outlets to accommodate bigger plugs. That would have made this a 5-star product. I think the designers for most of these power strips are probably still designing these for more traditional electronics. They don't seem to get that a lot of homes now don't just have TV's and receivers. They have routers, broadband modems, switches, smart-home devices, and they are all DC and have use converters (the bigger plugs). The 8 outlets intended for regular 2 or 3-prong plugs end up only being good for 4 or fewer.

Great energy saving power bar
Great power bar and surge protector. On top of all, it is energy saving!Computer is connected to "always on" port, just to ensure solid power source for main CPU.Then I have connected my computer monitor as "master" and finally,. I connected many of my computer peripherals to "master controlled" power sockets. This means that when I power off my computer or 'sleep' and the monitor goes off, my network switch, plugged to "master controlled' socket, also turns off, as well as computer speakers, scanner, speakerphone, .... and they don't consume any electricity when computer is off or on standby. This saves energy and also protects my peripherals from being powered on 24x7 unnecessarily...all day and night.

Child-proof plugs impossible to use
I'm a grown adult and was not able to plug anything into any of the outlets. No amount of pressure or wiggling would work. I asked my wife to try to prove I wasn't crazy. Unfortunately I didn't think to try this before my return window closed so now I'm stuck with it (bought it on Prime Day for the deal). Another reviewer said it had to do with Canadian-style plugs but that would be the first I've ever heard of that. I often buy from Monoprice and none of those power bars had this same issue.
