I am really addicted to this series! It has everything a cozy mystery could want - intrigue, memorable characters, a small town setting. What makes this series even more delightful, is it’s a British Cozy. There is just a difference in a British Cozy - it’s like stepping into an episode of Midsomer Murders on the BBC. The village of Peridale is a picturesque, & seemingly peaceful place on the outside but one filled with many secrets & murders. Julia South, aka The Cake Lady, has never met a mystery she could walk away from. So when a bludgeoned body is found at the construction site down the road from her cottage, Julia finds herself once again drawn into investigating. As Julia races to find the murderer she brings to light several other secrets, including one that will impact her personally. While I enjoy the mystery part of the story, what draws me back is the incredible relationship between the characters, especially between Julia, her fiancé Barker, & their soon to be adopted daughter Jessie. Author Agatha Frost has another winner in Cupcakes & Casualties!

I have just returned from my latest trip to Peridale and I had a FANTASTIC time! The eleventh book in the series will not disappoint. I was still guessing who the murderer was right up until Julias reveal. This book will get you right in the feels with the added drama and twist of the Julia/Jessie storyline. Thank you Agatha for another wonderful trip, my bags are ready to go for the next adventure!!!! I have a feeling there are so many more trips to Peridale in my future!!!* I received an ARC for my honest review *

So far, this instalment of the Peridale adventures is my favorite. There were a lot of situations that went on from the typical self-image crisis to relationship problems (third-party issues, etc.) I also loved how Julia’s family dynamics evolved yet again. Not to give to much away, I’ll end this review with how I appreciate the fact that Ms. Frost showed how the beauty of the heart trumps the beauty of the skin. I adored how she was able to write about how superficial it is being of a ‘prima donna’ rather than being of serious worth with just by being humble.

This is the 11th book in Agatha Frost’s “Peridale Cozy Mystery” series and I think it is the best! It was wonderful to go back to the quaint village of Peridale! Frost writes so very descriptively that the reader is able to “see” the village, the shops, people and scenes. The plots are unpredictable and I have never been able to guess who the murderer is. The best part of this series is watching the development of the characters and the relationships between them. Even the minor characters are well drawn. The people talk like real people. Nothing forced or unbelievable about them. I could barely put this book down! Now I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! If you have never read a cozy mystery, you must try this one! This book can be read as a stand-alone but once you read it, you will want to go back and read the entire series! Fabulous book and series! Kudos to Agatha Frost!

With each new book that Agatha Frost writes in this series, the deeper my love for the cozy, fictional world of Peridale grows. Each story in this series is so very entertaining and the latest installment is the best yet, in my opinion! I wish I lived in Peridale!!!

I love this series! I just recently started reading these books that I had purchased over the past year and I can't wait to go onto the next book!! I was on FB one day and saw a book with a baked good on the cover, I love cozies revolving around bakeries or deli's (etc), and I purchased it. I didn't get a chance to read it right away and just kept adding to the series every time I saw a new book come out and was only $.99!! I finally had the time to start reading this series and the rest is history! This series is AWESOME!!!! I am now going onto the last book and I cannot wait until she publishes the next one in the series!!! Worth much more than 5 stars!!!

Once again I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Peridale Cafe and spending time with all of the characters. Agatha Frost 's writing brings you into their lives and for a couple of days you feel like you are part of their family. If you enjoy mysteries, you will find that this series is for you.

I love this peek into village life in the U.K. That Julia owns/operates a bakery selling amazing sounding goodies does not hurt either. I have not missed a book in this series, and am pleased that the romance is going well, as is the adoption process. Of course there are a few issues to be worked out, in addition to the murders. I do like that the gore is kept to a minimum in this cozy mystery and Julia saves the day, with a bit of a risk to herself, Can't wait for my next visit to Peridale. I miss my friends there already.

Great to catch up with the characters but can be read alone. Julia lives the dream life, teashop owner in pretty village, handsome fiance and family living close by. Sadly she has to investigate murders with alarming regularity. She isn't quite miss Marple, to young and busy, but she gets to the bottom of the case every time. I had this on pre-order as I love to get the latest Peridale fix. I am enjoying seeing how the characters evolve and I loved the twist for one of the characters in this book. Pretty sure once you read this one would will want to go back to the beginning of the series.

This book & its predecessors are a delight and enjoyment to read.I'm old fashioned in that I like the paperback format as I like to have the book physically in my hands.To feel it & smell it, I know that I sounds daft and I promise that I don't go round smelling books as hobby or on a daily basis but just to convey my pleasure in reading an actual book.This book & like the previous 10 in the Peridale Cafe Mystery series are always a brilliant page turner & are great to read in summer sunshine or in winter when snuggled up in a thick warm blanket with a hot chocolate. I recommend that you buy this & any other of the titles in this series as I'm sure you'll like them. I suggest that if your like me then starting with book 1 is a good place to start.

Started reading Cupcakes and Casualties the moment I downloaded it. I love catching up with all the Peridale characters., and this book certainly kept me glued to the story as it unfolded. So sad to have finished it having thoroughly enjoyed it. However I have already ordered the next one. Can't wait.

Another book in the wonderful Peridale series. Murder, cakes and family all involved as usual.A model buys Barkers cottage and has plans to demolish it and build a new home. As usual all is not as it seems and soon the bodies start to pile up.Barker is busy starting his writing career and there is news for Jessie too.I liked this book as much as the others and am looking forward to the next instalment. This is a stand alone book but better read in series order as the story flows from one book to another.

As an avid murder mystery reader, I was not sure about the various cozy murder mysteries until I bought my Kindle and then bought several including the Peridale Cafe series which I absolutely love. They are an absolute joy to read and in each one, you see how Julia and her family's lives develop as well as how she solves all these murders. This book also had another character added in the shape of Jessie's long lost brother Alfie so it will be great to see how that develops and like many others I am eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

Cupcakes and Casualties is the 11th book in the Peridale series and another great (Cozy) murder mystery from Agatha Frost. Consistently good storytelling with characters you actually care about. This book sees a surprising new addition to the regular ‘cast’ of characters. If you haven’t read any of the Peridale series yet then grab yourself a copy of book 1 Pancakes and Corpses and prepare to get hooked like myself and so many others have. A shout out to the proof readers and editors for another great job. Can’t wait to get started on book 12, Blueberry Muffins and Misfortune. Keep up the great work Agatha, long may Peridale continue.

I am hooked on this series if you want to wind down with a glass of wine or a pot of tea and a book this one and the others in this series are perfect. They are a quick easy read with engaging characters and you are always left with a smile.

Absolutely brilliant read. I heard that there are twelve books in the series. Please Agatha , don't let the twelfth book be the last. Peridale for ever! This is the most well written series of books I have read in a long time. It has been so easy to identify and relate to all the characters. More Peridale please!

Another fantastic storyline from one of my favourite authors. Its very easy reading, allowing the reader to put the book down and pick up again where they left off without forgetting the story so far. Great for busy mums! I'm already looking forward to the next book!!

Love this series of books & this one is no exception ! They just get better & better & this time a new character is introduced. Great story line. Any fan of cozy mysteries will love this book & the whole series, really enjoyable!

Another great adventure in Peridale. Good to see new faces join the cast and you integrate them so well, how this family has grown! Would love these books to be made into a TV series. Going to have to read slower though, too long to wait for the next one!

Another lovely read about Julia and all the characters in Peridale. I am enjoying the family developments and the changing relationships. A very good storyline with plenty of red herrings! Well done!
