It is really adorable as in the picture. I used a chopstick to make a hole. Pouring water is tough for me. So I used a small funnel for cosmetics. Before putting the tube in the soil, put a thumb at the outlet, turn the globe upside down and slide the thumb from the outlet slowly. Few drops come out from the tube, but very few due to a water pressure or gravity(?) anyway... After checking few drops come out from the tube, put it in the hole in the soil. I also watered the soil after putting the tube in order to seal and stablise it.It seems it takes a longer to absorb if one makes an angle. I put two globes in the same pot. I put one of the globes upright and the water remains 1/3 of the globe after three days. I gave an angle for the other and it still hold 3/4 of the water.It is not a fault of this product, but for all this sort of plant nannies. We cannot predict how many days watering lasts or the speed of watering. One of the globe absorbed really quickly and really scared. But it slowed all of sudden and remains the water level. So, it can hold water for a couple days/weeks, but cannot predict.

The birds look beautiful in my planters! They are very easy to fill and use, it is helpful that a funnel for filling and some small tubes to prevent the dirt from clogging the tubes were included. I do have to fill them daily but I do know that it is the potting soil that I used. When I was watering with a can the water would just go right through the soil. The birds really help keep the soil moist. I know that I will not have to fill them daily when I get better soil.

The glass is well made, and the shape of the bird is a whimsical alternative to a sphere. Two of the three work perfectly and as expected (albeit they need refilling more often than I thought, but that really is probably more to do with the plant than the product.) The third has something wrong with the stem that makes it more difficult to fill but if you are patient it isn't really a issue. Overall very pleased with this product!

Bought for my daughter and her plant collection. Arrived in a super secure well padded box. The glass seems pretty stable and if good quality. It’s been one month and still holding up.

Although these are very cute and look nice in the pots, they do not water my plants even close to 2-3 weeks. The water usually completely drains out within a few hours. I have tried moving them to other pots, but the results are the same. I even tried thoroughly watering the plant before placing the bird inside, and it lasted one day. I gave them 3 stars because they are decorative and look cute, but DO NOT count on them to automatically water your plants for any length of time.

They are pretty but they don't work. No matter how much water is in my plant, the water in the watering globe comes right out as soon as I put it in the pot with my plant. JoAnn

Easy to use, just slowly fill with water and stuff them in the plant. Lasts a few days in the dry weather we've been having here in Louisiana. Got them for a friend that doesn't always make it outside to water her plants, they have practically saved her ferns from certain death due to heat and lack of water. One thing to note, the units are glass. I had one slip out of my hand and busted but that's my fault for picking up all 6 at once with wet hands. All in all a very nice and ornate product for the price.

I had a super thirsty plant that would wilt overnight even when it had been watered that day. I actually put all three of these birds in this one plant, and they are working great to keep it watered in its own schedule. I do have to fill the birds every other day. Some plant waterers can hold more water than these, but I bet they’re not as cute!

Están super lindos y a mi mamá, quien fue a quien se los regale, le gustaron muchísimo. Lo triste, es que uno de ellos se rompió de solito, no sabemos si por el calor, la presión del agua o que se tapo.
