FIERCE: My Fight For Nothing Less

A great book thaat shares an important story!
Marian Washington’s book is important because it transcends preconceived knowledge and belief systems about growing up as a woman of color in America. In her own words she tells her story of overcoming many obstacles and hardships in her life to accomplish something greater than herself. “Fierce” is heartfelt and poignant. It is written with grace, humbleness and dignity. It is a “must read” and will appeal to everyone no matter your race, social beliefs, politics, faith, or your station in life.

She Shoots! She Scores!
I preordered this book from another seller (sorry Amazon) and received it two weeks before the release date (thank you, other seller). I read this book in three days, not because its a fluff piece but because its just that good. Coach Washington's story has something very satisfying for diverse interests. If you are interested in the history of women's basketball that brought us to today, check. If you are interested in the fight for African American and women's rights, check and check. If you are interested in how this kind of change happens inside a large and powerful organization day to day and year to year, check. If you want to know what it takes to overcome tremendous barriers to achieve great success, check. And, finally, if you want to know the joys of success and what it costs, check again. Coach Washington has given a lot and now she is giving us her story, told with authenticity. I recommend this book without hesitation and hope that you find it as inspiring and satisfying as I did.

Very good, thoughtful book from a women's basketball pioneer
What a terrific book. I grew up in the Midwest and knew about Marian Washington's successful women's basketball program at Kansas, but until I read this book I really knew nothing about her background or about the battles she fought. As the sport gets bigger and bigger, we need to read these stories about the true pioneers who helped lay the foundation. This is a book that any women's basketball fan with an ounce of curiosity should read. Highly recommended.
