You're never too old to practice yoga..
As a personal trainer and fitness class instructor of "mature" seniors, I found this to be a very practical and effective programming tool for seated classes. My class participants love the variety, the gentle flexibility work, breathe work, and the subtle "brain teasers". The advantage of Chair Yoga for this audience is to make the yoga practice benefits available to those who don't have the strength and balance skill for traditional poses, in a safe environment.Class participants have told me that they thought they were too old to start practicing yoga, but they love this approach.

I teach Therapeutic Chair Yoga and I found this book to have wonderful, simple to follow exercises that I can recommend to my students for home practice. I always recommend that people work with a certified yoga teacher to learn the correct way to do poses, both for benefit and to avoid injury. This book makes a great companion to a regular class.

Great book for beginners.
I already do all the exercises in this book so it was the wrong choice for me. However, it would be great for somewhat who wants to start out very slowly to get the body moving.

Comprehensive and informative
As a yoga teacher, I have found this detailed and informative for the general reader without becoming too technical. It gives safe, accessible directions for asana and pranayama practice, as well as insight into the other aspects of a fully rounded yoga practice ( lifestyle, diet, meditation) I wholeheartedly recommend this book for those who find the prospect of yoga physically daunting, as well as to all yoga practitioners who will find an array of ideas that can be applied in situations when a full asana practice is not practical.

Book is a helpful reminder
This book supplements the class course I recently finished. Until I resume classes in Chair Yoga in September, I will have the book with its easy-to-follow instructions to remind me of the various poses.

A very helpful and informative book. I have trouble with my knees and the sitting yoga is perfect. I especially liked the breathing exercises.

Very Disapointing
Very nice exercise routines on the whole-but as I cant stand up as I am profoundly disabled,I found the exercises which required to "stand up "obvioiusly not possible..I would have loved to have had an alternative chair based way of doing these exercises. This is why I bought "chair yoga" after all.Would have been really great if this had been done.I am sure other people might well thought this too.

This book gives helpful suggestions on modifying yoga to help suit all abilities.
As a Dru Yoga teacher I found this book helpful in offering ideas to modify a class to suit those less able bodied. Easily adapted to suit the gentle style of Dru Yoga. Better than other books I have read on the subject.

excellent quide to chair yoga
I have been teaching adapted yoga for a while now and felt my classes needed more variety: this book has lots of variations to poses which has allowed me to make each practice different. The sample classes are a fantastic and invaluable aid for teachers. Particularly useful to me is the section on exercises for the brain as I also work with people who have head injuries - thank you.

Really good book, with exercises you can do in the office!
I bought this book for my Grandmother who was recovering from a hip replacement operation but had a sneaky peek first and now use some of the exercises while I'm at work! It's a good basic book of yoga for those who aren't perhaps particuarly supple. Well worth a look.

As a qualified Dru yoga teacher, I found this a very useful reference guide for adapting postures and sequences to the need of those who may not be able to stand for long periods or have mobility challenges. Good clear instructions with notes on the effect of each of the movements.
