This is my first epilator and I love it! On the first 2 or 3 goes, it hurt quite a bit. After that it was easy to manage and after a couple of weeks, I fet no pain anymore. I found that the purple cover gave me more confidence whilst I learnt to use this and trust it. When I made the leap to use the plain white cover, I was surprised that it didn't hurt at all. When epilating my legs the epilator isn't able to pinch me (I have even pushed it down and I don't tense the skin). In areas like my armpits where the skin is thinner, it can pinch but it won't if you just pull the skin tight with your other hand. The speed adjustment really helps if you're nervous about using it as it does hurt less when you are getting used to the feeling still. I find that it takes slightly longer than shaving my legs but the results last much longer. I used to shave every 2 days to avoid stubble but now I epilate once a week. The hairs on my legs and pits are much thinner and my bikini line doesn't grow as much hair as it used to. I LOVE that I can use it in the bath. It still works very well in there and cleaning it is super easy since I can use water. At first I wasn't interested in the razor attachment but it has come in handy. It's especially useful if you've let an area grow out because shorter hair is easier to epilate. I haven't used the face attachment as I don't trust it and also don't need it. If you are a beginner to epilating like I was, I totally recommend this one! It has a few ways to make the experience less painful when you start and you have a lot of control over how you do it. After a very short while you get used to the pain and don't really feel it any more. I researched this a bit and I don't think there is a better one out there for beginners! Just remember to look up some tips, and exfoliate after! I don't see myself returning to shaving again :)

For those not wanting to spend a fortune each month paying for waxing, or struggling to justify that cost in our current economic climate, this is your next best option for longer hair-free time than shaving can give. I have PCOS, so my body hair is quite thick & dark, but these products make managing my hairiness a lot easier & cheaper than it was when I was waxing 2x a month minimum! Underarm use takes some getting used to as it is a very sensitive area of the body & the same goes for the bikini line & top lip. Personally I use this for my top lip, jawline, under my chin, side burns & legs on a regular basis. If I feel a bit of stubble on my legs a 10minute wizz over with the Silk-épil 9 is all I need to, personally, feel more confident getting my pins out & a minute is all I need for facial hair removal. Before purchasing this item I had used the Silk-Épil 7 for over 12years so when it stopped holding charge for longer than 5mins I was gutted. I needed to find a replacement. I did look at just buying replacement batteries for the Silk-Épil 7 (I may do that now due to having a replacement if anything goes wrong with it) & carrying on using it as there is literally nothing wrong with it apart from the charge life becoming practically nonexistent, despite it being 12years old, so I can not recommend it for longevity enough. It took me a year to decide to upgrade to the Silk-épil 9 & what swayed me was the width of the head. Being able to sort my larger hairy areas in less time, disabled & suffer with chronic pain & fatigue, is always a bonus in my book & this item has not let me down so far & the Silk-Épil 7 didn’t let me down in 12yrs until battery death.

I have been using epilator for over 10 years and I can honestly say that this is the best product I have tried so far. Barely feel any pain, and longer smooth feelings. Very impressed.

Braun Silk Epil have been my go to for my epilator for years. So when my last one needed replacing I bought this one. Its an excellent replacement, works really well at removing hairs. I love the light on it, really helps to see the hairs. Its a good shape to hold, nice and comfortable. My only criticism is that I wish it came with a small narrow head to use on the bikini area. Apart from that its great, highly recommended. If you havent epilated before, yes it hurts. It rips our hair out by the roots. Some areas are more sore than others. You do get used to it. To start with I couldn't stand to do my armpits, I had to keep stopping. But now I dont mind it. Hairs stay removed after epilating much longer than after shaving, and also they get less after time.

Good product, a gift for my wife. She likes it.

Sold in the UK but comes with a charger not compatible with UK sockets. I tore the box so can't return it, but can't get it to work either. Utterly ridiculous that this is sold as a UK product.
