Go with this and don't compare it to others
I stumbled across this book whilst whizzing down my Goodreads feed and someone else had rated it really highly and likened it to the Twilight series (which I loved), so I did a bit of research and discovered that other people also loved it and that the Kindle version was only 99p. I was wanting a lighter read and a YA vampire book fitted that bill perfectly so I started it straight away. Our main character is Grace. We meet Grace just after the death of her parents in a car accident, as she is moving into her Uncle’s boarding school, Katmere Academy, in Alaska to continue her education under the guardianship of her Uncle and the friendship of her cousin Macy. Grace soon comes to the attention of the bad boy at school, Jaxon, and she feels instantly attracted to him. As expected by the blurb in the book, it’s not all as it seems and we soon realise that there are strange forces at play and that someone is trying to kill Grace. Is this book a mashup of Twilight and Harry Potter? Yes.Are the characters stereotypical? Yes.Is the storyline predictable and nothing new or original? Yes.Did I devour the book in two days and think about it when I wasn’t reading it? Yes.Although this is nothing new (just a few f-bombs that Twilight and Harry Potter doesn’t have) I was absorbed by the story. The characters are predictable and pretty unimaginative, the scene setting isn’t awesome - all we are told about her beautiful Alaskan setting is that it is cold - the strong bad boy falling for the fragile human girl has been done 100 times before BUT this book had something. I don’t know if it was because I was looking for something easy and effortless but there was something that kept me reading.Grace was annoying but strong, Jaxon was self-obsessed (so much so that Grace actually calls him out on it) and there are ridiculously sloppy scenes that go on forever. But the death of Grace’s parents was handled well, there was a well written fight scene, an interesting twist, a hint of more surprises to come and it ends on a great cliffhanger.I think you just need to enjoy this book and go with it, if you compare it to others or overthink it, you will be disappointed and will miss out on a solid read. It’s only got a PG rating, so nothing too sexy happens but there is a biting scene that I would argue was on the edge of probably what is allowed within that rating. There are 3 bonus chapters at the end of 3 of the scenes told from Jaxon’s POV which gave an interesting spin, although I didn’t miss the fact that Twilight did this too. I won’t rush out to buy the next book in the series but I will add it to my wish list.

Great read!
Grace's life change after her parents died in a car accident, and so, from the life she’s used to she moves to the frozen Alaska to go to her Uncles boarding school, but discovers she has to deal with much greater troubles than the cold.I really enjoyed this book, when I first started reading it I was reminded of Twilight a lot and as I got through the book I saw the similarities even more with the whole bad boy who wants to stay away from her but can’t and how she’s always getting in danger. I also saw a lot of similarities to the TV show Legacies that was actually referenced in the book.I liked that although there were lots of characters which often can be confusing, Tracy presented them at the right time, I loved the expectation for Grace to discover the truth. The relationship between her and Jaxon was very cringy but also swoon worthy and had some very cute moments. The way Tracey shows Grace going through the deaths of her parents and how she dealing with it emotionally was well done and made me feel for her. I have to say I didn’t expect the plot twist at the end and who was behind everything but it did make it better and the cliffhanger at the end makes me excited for the best book.Overall, I enjoyed this book very much, it was a cute story with the right amount of action. Throughout to keep you interested. Definitely would recommend. 4.5/5 ⭐️
