This brought my bug zapper back to life.

My flowtron zapper died after about 1 year. I got a new bulb, it wasn't the bulb. It was this do-hicky. Easy to remove and replace. Took a few minutes to swap, now works as it should again. The old one was visibly blackened. The replacement looks much beefier, the old one looked flimsy. I should have bought 2. M

Right part
This is the right replacement starter bulb for the bug zapper. You may need this if the main bulb is flickering.

Don't last long.
Buy a few, they only last a couple month.

It works, done right!
Need to pull hard on wires to remove non working starter. Use pliers, then insert new starter wires until they “bottom out”. Replacement starter worked perfectly after installation.
