rare live music from the animals.
This stuff sounds pretty good and was recorded at various live shows in 1966-67. I can say that it is quite worth having if you love this band. Or even if you want some great blues rockin material live. It's not like todays live recordings of course but it's still got the power of the band live and clear enough to satisfy. There really isn't a live recording of the animals doing this stuff other than this pretty much. This band is a classic one and will stand the test of time. Here we get some great live stuff with average to great quality and that's ok by me.

Highly recommended for Animals fans
I generally agree with donelly117 and some of the others in terms of the sound quality and performances. I prefer the earlier tunes as I have always preferred the earlier version of the Animals. I still like the psychedelic version as well and they account for themselves well on this disc. Back in the 1990's I purchased an hour long videocassette of the Eric Burdon and the Animals story. On this VCR was a brief live clip of the original band doing "Work Song" and I was intrigued with this brief clip. I scoured their back catalog in vain trying to find a version of this song on CD until I found this CD. This is why I bought this CD. I was not disappointed as the original band was really tight and rocking on this cut (and the other early cuts as well). Burdon never gives anything but his best on all of the performances on this disc. If you are a fan of the band you should get a copy of this CD.

Most underrated British Invasion band
Until the Who finally cracked the American marketplace the Animals were the third most important of the British Invasion bands. They had several big hits in America without compromising their musical integrity. However, when the original band broke up, the New Animals failed to make consistent recordings and did severe damage to the Animals original reputation. The New Animals were a kickin' live band and that is what we get with this release. That combined with 3 or 4 tracks by the original band make for an exciting collection. The early stuff sounds great and is played well. The later stuff varies in recording quality but is consistently on the mark musically. In short, this is recommended for old and new fans and, hopefully, helps people remember how good both incarnations of the Animals were.

The early "live" studio recordings are far preferable quality wise ...
The early "live" studio recordings are far preferable quality wise.. What the "in-concert" recordings lack in quality is at least somewhat offset by the solid performance(s) by the "new" Animals... Burdon is/was incredible.
