Alpinetek Women's Long Down Parka

I should have ordered this jacket from the start and not bought a higher-end brand. I bought a jacket that was from a brand supposedly known for warm coats, a 650 fill, lightweight coat. I wore it for a couple days that it was in the 30s in my area (southern midwest) and it gave me no warmth and the wind went right through it. I knew at that time that I needed a solid, warm winter coat. Reading the reviews on how heavy this coat was, I figured I would give it a try. I think I've found the coat that will work for the cold weather. This coat is solid, it has weight to it, appears to be good quality and fits nice. i had to order the small, even though the XS probably would have been most ideal for me, so it's a little roomy, but it will be fine, especially when I put a sweater under it. I'm petite and the long length on me falls right below my knees. I would have preferred it be right above my knees, but this isn't a defect in the coat. For my needs, this will be great and I will report back later after wearing it a few days in the super cold weather. I would recommend this if you want a coat that has some bulk to it and warmth. The more expensive brand did nothing for me, personally.

Great investment! I live in Chicago where the winters can be harsh. I commute, and often wait outdoors for the train to arrive. We've had some sub-zero days, and I've been warm without overheating. The length is perfect, it hits below the knee. The coat is stylish, fits well, and has plenty of pockets. The knitted cuffs and fleecy inner collar, along with the hood really keep the wind out. It's similar in appearance to another down coat that's extremely popular, very expensive, and worn by a lot of people here. It's a fraction of the cost of that other design. I've received compliments, and been asked "Where'd you get that coat?" several times. I'm so glad I bought it. Very happy!

The sleeves are cozy and the whole coat without being too heavy is a nice weight of down. It's a great coat for the money! I'm very pleased with what I got for the cost. This coat is insulating (and I'm sure rain repelling but not been rained on yet in this) and great for winter weather. Yes, the hood is floppy and falls over my eyes but I don't mind. The fake fur is very soft and perfect for keeping the wind out of my face. There even arrives extra snap buttons, regular buttons and the extras needed to put on the extra snap buttons. Now that is a nice touch I wasn't expecting. My last glowing praise is all the pockets! For someone who squirrels away so much stuff in my winter coat I adore this.So after all is said and done this coat is worth the money you'll be shelling out. And if you like your coat with more room I'm a woman at 5'4 and 125 pounds and I bought a medium. It's cozy all over so if you want room to wear hoodies/sweaters I'd recommend a large.

I just got this jacket yesterday and I ordered it in an XL, but I should have ordered a Large instead. I am 5'4' and about 170 with large breasts (38 DDD), so I thought I would need the XL to accommodate my size and allow for layering. Actually, the coat is so warm, you will NOT need to layer. Despite the sizing which was not a deal breaker, I love the coat and will not be exchanging it for a smaller size. It is made very well and comparable to much more expensive brands like Canada Goose or Woolrich yet costs a fraction of the price. I took off a star as the zipper is a little tough to zip but over time, I am hoping that it loosens up and I also wish the fur piece on the hood was detachable but only the whole hood is detachable. I would definitely purchase this brand again and have actually added the Alpinetek jacket to my Amazon shopping cart for purchase later but in a size Large...LOL. Enjoy potential customer as this is a SUPER BUY!

I like this coat a lot. Love the cobalt color, the fit, the construction, the price, the warmth. It's an excellent alternative to many of the insanely priced coats offered in the same category. There are a few features I would change, if I could. As others have mentioned, the outsize hood will flop down over your eyes if you have an average-size head, even if you make maximum adjustments with the cords at the base of the hood on each side, which are challenging to adjust. A tab adjustment on the back of the hood would be a plus. I'm using a pair of clothespins until I come up with a better solution. The pockets could have been designed better, with diagonal openings for hand warming. When walking dogs, this may not matter. A slightly longer length would suit me better, as well. I'm not quite 5'7", and it falls above my knees. I also can say that it's not as so excessively warm as other reviews led me to expect. So far, I've worn it with the temperature in the 20s and 30s F, and can feel a bit of chill in my upper torso even when using a fleece layer under it. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase, and it seems to be a good value for the price.

I ordered a large, expecting a size 10-12, but a 14-16 (with a large tag) arrived. I might have kept it since I'd prefer to err large than small, but one of the most important features of a winter coat is the size/functionality of the pockets. There may be many pockets, but they are almost all smaller than they could have been to be really useful. For example, I'd be hard pressed to fit a pair of gloves in *one* of the lower front outside pockets, and a hat or scarf in the other. It's also too bad you have to choose b/w the fur trim and the hood - since ideally, I'd keep the hood and remove the trim. Color-wise, it was a lot darker red than I expected from the picture. The reflective strips are really great, but that wasn't enough to overcome the limitations above.

this is a beautiful coat. great length, below my knees. adjustment for the waist. very warm. better than i expected. canada red colour. fits true to size. i am a size 12, i got an XL.

Love the parka was on sale good price only problem, ordered cobalt blue recieved red but still like it very warm winter coat good quality.
