Solid HP-Branded Blu-Ray Drive (Bare-Bones, Bulk OEM packaging, No Cables, No Software).
Preface: I bought this drive new from another website at a great price (for $38 w/free shipping) to replace the venerable (NON-BLU-RAY) DVD drive that I have been carrying over to my various desktop system since 2006 (lol). My old DVD drive still worked fine, but I wanted something newer that could also stream Blu-Ray DVD content to the larger 32-inch monitor I have set up in my bedroom for watching shows/movies. Since I don't use any live TV channel services, if I can't stream it via the internet or DVD, I don't watch it.Impressions: Item that I ordered arrived new as a bare-bones OEM bulk package item (no retail packaging, cables, etc.). It is an HP branded Blu-Ray DVD drive (made for HP by Hitachi/LG no doubt). I had no problems installing the drive or having Windows 10 64-bit recognize/install it automatically on boot. I did go into the drive properties & set it for region code 1 (NA) once the system was booted up however. I proceeded to insert a Blu-Ray movie (Batman vs Superman Extreme Edition Extended Cut) & it worked fine with my DVD player software. You will need to obtain software capable of playing Blu-Ray DVDs if you want to watch Blu-Ray discs.I have no need for the DVD archiving/writing features of this drive, so I can't comment on how well this drive is at writing DVD data.Hopefully, this hardware will keep me entertained for years to come as a simple desktop-streaming DVD Blu-Ray player.UPDATE 12/3/2019 - Still working fine!

Great for backups, (BEWARE if you're purchasing this for viewing movies, please read)
I've used this mainly for home made movies/pictures, and general backup. If you're going to use this to view BluRay pictures, you need to PURCHASE additional software. Microsoft Windows (not even 10) comes to licences to play bluray with media player (or vlc player)You need something like cyberlink/powerdvd 10, that costs +$50. or any other professional bluray software.

Don't bother
Will read most of what it is intended for. Will not write discs. Learned from several experiences hereto buy from other places and invest the money to get what you really need.
