Best Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector
This is a dependable Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector. I bought two ten years ago and the battery in both died within a day of each other. The 10-year battery backup guarantee is accurate. Although they never went off in that time as a warning of Carbon Monoxide in my home, they offer a peace of mind that if there ever is, they will. The chirp is loud enough to be heard through the house and beeps every 2 minutes - at least for a dead battery. I was so impressed with the last ones, it was the only brand I considered buying when they needed to be replaced. They also get the highest rating among CO detectors. It is so simple to use, just plug it in. The chirp is loud enough to be heard through the house and beeps every 2 minutes - at least for a dead battery. Why look any further.

Boy have smoke detectors gone up in price.
Bought these to replace my original 10 year old Kidde detectors. Needed 5 of them. Got this 3 pack and then ordered the 2 pack. 1 was defective and had to return it and re-purchase a single one. You can't just return and send another unit. The replacement worked and we are good to go. Not an inexpensive venture when you need to replace 5 of them. The originals had a pre-determined lifespan of 10 years and started peeping continuously until you removed them and replaced.

Easy replacement for peace of mind.
Bought 4 to replace 10 year old Kidde Smoke detectors in our cabin. I'd read the reviews and also purchased the optional wire adaptors figuring I'd rather have them than wish I did. The detectors fit the existing mounting rings and the adaptor slid right on both the new unit and into the cabin wiring. This let me hook up the new detectors quickly and without a single cuss word! Each unit was tested, gave the requisite alarm and voice warnings, and now are doing their job without a chirp or false alert. Well worth the extra $$ to have the built-in10 year battery so we won't have to replace batteries in a few years. I checked the manufacture date to be sure these were new units and marked each new detector with the date of installation. We'll see if the 10 year promise is true but so far, so good!

Inconsistent, defective, and not worth it.
If a smoke detector false alarms once or twice in 10 years, maybe because someone was cooking or a neighbor was smoking nearby or something, OK. If a smoke detectorโand not a cheap one, but a quite expensive oneโfalse alarms 4 times in two years, in the middle of the night, for no obvious reason, it is a serious problem. I bought 4 of these expensive, Kidde brand detectors because I wanted to spare no expense for my familyโs safety. First, we got false alarms (that would then set off all the alarms in the house) because one of the detectors we didnโt replace was too old (Kidde support told me they had to be made within the last 10 years or so.) Why different models would cause false alarms in newer models (all our units are hardwired) was beyond me, but OK. So I bought a newer model to replace the old one. More false alarms, even though all the models were Kidde and from 2025, but they werenโt all IDENTICAL models, so OK, Iโll replace the ones that donโt match with the exact same model. Fast forward to tonight at 2:40 AM, when all the models start going off at once. A fire, obviously, so my wife and baby and I leap out of bed and I go frantically trying to find the source of the fire. Guess what? No fire! But after they all eventually shut off (which took about 2 interminable minutes), I noticed the unit in my bedroom didnโt have the green LED lit anymore. So the unit is dead after only a few months? Maybe thatโs why the alarms all went offโafter all, if one unit dies, it makes sense they should alert you to a fire! The only burning that has ever happened in my house has been the hole in my wallet from buying these terribly expensive and consistently defective smoke detectors. And for the record, my house was built in 2014. Maybe itโs a wiring issue in my house, but it sure doesnโt seem like it to me. In any case, I will be looking for another brand and will be contacting Kidde customer support because I am at my witโs end.

Quick and easy to install
Easy to install. I replaced my 10 year old alarm with this alarm. I ordered the adapter plug which eliminates the need to take apart the existing wiring. Simply plug in the adapter to the existing wiring and the other end plugs into the new alarm. Very easy with the adapter plug. Or you can take apart the wire nuts and splice in the provided wiring. I prefer not to disturb the existing wiring pulling the wires out of the box and taking off the wire nuts. Kidde customer service is great. They alerted me to the fact that I could purchase the adapter plug making installation quick and easy.

Quality sound, clear, loud
Works great. I'd know because I tested it by accidentally burning a reverse sear on a steak not that long ago. It is actually less annoying than other false alarms and is fairly easy to quiet down after an alert. Battery life so far has easily lasted a year, should be able to do 10 no problem. Expensive but worth the cost to be safe for the next 10 years. Would love a text feature but no dice.
