Reno 911: Season 5

Some Laughs But A Bit Disappointed
I absolutely loved the first four seasons of Reno and I bought this expecting more of the same. While this season has its highlights, you can tell something is amiss. The vignettes of the deputies talking to the camera and among themselves in the patrol cars are reduced by half or more. Fans of Deputies Johnson, Kimball, and Garcia are going to be disappointed as their camera time and lines are cut significantly. Garcia fares the worst, maybe saying thirty words the whole season. No wonder they are "killed off" for the next season. The stuff that is put in place of the vignettes is sometimes overlong and this season seems to be edited differently as well. The formula that made me love the first four seasons simply isn't here. I'm just keepin' it real as Williams would say. The season begins with Dangle "jumping the shark" for Autism, which I suspect is purposely prophetic. This season still has some laughs and it can be had cheap enough but don't expect it to be like the previous seasons.

Best season of all
Of all the Reno 9-11 seasons, this was the best, taken in total. It was the last year that the original cast ensemble performed; the next season 2 of the originals were replaced.Of all the shows in this season, there were perhaps 1 or 2 that were short of greatness; the rest were comic brilliance. This season had them putting up with an insufferable restaurant manager(Seth Green in a perfect turn as agitator), a corrupt mayor, chauvinistic body armor...for female cops only, questionable stakeout(Trudy entrapping bus riders, or doing her best at it), and best of all, an Iraqi police training contingent(who used the translation problem to great comedic effect), etc. This year also had as a sidelight a Gilligan Island(Mary Ann vs. Ginger) transformation, where the homely Trudy Wiegel played the vamp(no longer the blonde bimbo's domain, due to a weight problem). If you loved this series or simply love good comedy, you must get this season's disk.

Streaming episodes are duplicated
Steaming episodes are so disappointing. Two of the episodes are duplicates, though they’re listed with different titles and descriptions

Best price on the net
If you know you like this show, you can’t beat this deal.I didn’t want the complete series option because you don’t get as many features or nice packaging. It was worth it to pay more for the separate seasons

Probably the best and wildest and craziest season
Probably the best and wildest and craziest season, the last one with most of the original crew. Definitely uncensored, except for the odd bit which was originally blurred probably for "artistic effect" (as it would be on "Cops" etc.). DVD quality is very good, a drastic improvement over the early season DVDs.
