***May contain spoilers***I read a lot of Cosa Nostra books and this one is actually pretty well written with a lot of research. However that is not enough to save it. I knew very little about Big Joey before the book and after finishing the book I still know very little.This is surprising since many of the Bonanno upper management, including the Underboss and Joey himself, flipped so you would think there would be material and breathe some life into this book! The answer is no.Instead there is a very dry account that jumps ahead years without really going into detail of what Joey was doing.The book delves into the Donnie Brasco situation and really dwells on the 3 Capo murders way too much. I mean the author keeps going back to the 3 Capos murders again and again, and then topping it off with the Sonny Black murder. Its like hearing the same 3 songs in a greatest hits CD over and over again.The meat and potatoes of the book was the court-room action. If you like reading a detailed summary of the legal case then this probably will delight you. Not for me though. I want to know about the street action not the court action. I want to know the hustles and the schemes. But that wasn't in this book I'm afraid. I learned more about the legal teams involved than I did about Big Joey.Overall: Book is boring. I find it staggering that with so many informants there is nothing to this book. If you want a decent LCN book I recommend Murder Machine about Roy DeMeo's crew.

It's a very interesting book,with a hard work of investigation.I recomend totally the purchase of this itemVery well alltogheter.

Fully reserched with complete background details give this book an edge over similar mafia books. Enjoyable with enough detail to give a solid picture of the American Mafia during Joey Massino's reign.
