For formal dinner napkins you should have a larger set to completely cover a guest's lap. Most of my cloth napkins have been smaller and have been more decorative than practical for proper etiquette. These are the napkins you get for formal meals and holiday gatherings. They are very well made and the stitching is exceptional. They have held up now for several washes without fading. Being a little heavier there are some fun things you can do with them for the table presentation with rings and folding.

These Solino Home linen napkins are now my favorite, with their sophisticated look and medium-weight 100% flax linen. The navy color is practical, and the stitching around the hems is flawless. They're large (20 inches by 20 inches), providing great coverage and have held up well to machine washing on a gentle cycle. Overall, I’m very pleased with the quality and highly recommend them.

These are now my nicest and favorite napkins. I am using the navy color, which hopefully will take longer to show stains than my other lighter-colored napkins. I'm quite impressed with the sophisticated look and feel of their medium-weight European 100% flax linen. The stitching around the napkins' hems is nicely done, with no mistakes. These napkins are also quite large—20 inches by 20 inches—providing great coverage of any lap, and suitable for use as a bib as well. The napkins have stood up well to machine washing; I've used the cold-water gentle cycle, and dried on low heat. They do come out fairly wrinkled, which is fine by me, and nothing an iron couldn't resolve, if you are so inclined. I am a big fan of linen fabric and have it in both clothes and household items. These napkins hold their shape beautifully and are made of a high-quality linen fabric. And that means they will wrinkle when used and washed. Just after one wash, it went from pristine to a wad of crinkles. Fortunately, all it took was a steam iron to straighten them out. I also love the color, a perfect shade of navy blue. This set of napkins makes a lovely host/hostess gift. Note: I purchased the plate, tablecloth, and clear placemat from Amazon.
