Our cats love their heated beds!
Review of K&H Pet Products Thermo-Kitty Mat Heated Pet Bed Mocha 12.5 X 25 Inches Our cats love their K&H Pet Products Thermo-Kitty Mat Heated Pet Beds. They always have a warm place if they feel cold. If no cat is on the bed, it feels slightly warm. When a cat lays on the bed, the bed warms slightly more but never dangerously hot for a cat. The heating element inside the bed cover is smaller than the cover so don’t be surprised. Our cats find it plenty warm and have never complained. This bed is designed for indoor use. Of course, DO NOT USE this bed with a sick or invalid cat who cannot get off the bed on their own. DO NOT USE a human heating pad for animals- they get dangerously hot for animals. Some reviews say the bed is not “ON” until a pet is on the bed but this is not accurate. According to the K&H website, “The surface of the bed will be about 15°F above ambient air temperature until the pet lies on the bed. Then it will warm to about 102°F, which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats.” Cost to operate is very low since this model draws 6 watts per hour. We live where the electricity is expensive at $0.33 per kilowatt (most of the U.S. pays half this or less) so it costs us about $1.50 per month per heated bed if it is plugged in the whole month. For most people the cost would probably be $0.75 per month, perhaps less. You can do your own calculations.Great for senior cats or skinny cats. However, the K&H website says,“Important Safeguards: • Consult your veterinarian before use with young puppies/kittens, convalescent pets, during surgery/surgery recovery, or any animal that cannot voluntarily remove themselves from the heated pad. K&H recommends using ONLY the Deluxe Lectro-Kennel Heated Pad for these animals as this pad has an adjustable thermostat. • Do not place pad in confined area where the pet does not have the ability to remove themselves from the pad. Always allow your pet enough space to be able choose if they want to rest on the pad or off the pad.”OTHER OPTIONS Over the years we have purchased about seven K&H versions of heated pet beds and none have failed. One version is a round “basket” in which the cats love to curl up because it has sides (comes in two sizes- get the large for an average size cat). Some are just the heating element and cord to be placed in your own cover (pets should not lay on the element without a cover). The heated beds like the Thermo-Kitty Mat Heated Pet Bed are our go-to, no-brainer choice- plug it in and the cats figure out how they want to lay on it. We also have tried a round disc (a non-K&H product) that is warmed in a microwave and is warm at first but the heat dissipates through the night leaving the disc less warm by morning; and then you have to heat the disc again. The advantage of the disc is that no electricity is needed near the bed and there is no electrical hazard for the pet. The K&H heated beds provide constant, even heat throughout the day and night. The disc is also a hard, rock-like lump in the bed. If you place padding around the disc, the heat is blocked, keeping the disc warm but not the pet. We have also tried non-electrical warming pads that have a heat reflective layer (that makes a crinkly noise) to reflect the pet’s body heat. They work to a certain extent but not like an electrically heated bed. The advantage of the reflective pad is that no electricity is needed near the bed and there is no electrical hazard for the pet.THE BOTTOM LINEOur cats love their heated beds!

Love love love
Got this as a gift for my boyfriend's cat. When I say his cat is obsessed with him, I mean it. If he so much as thinks about sitting down, she is instantly in his lap.Whenever we are on a call while on our PCs, she is constantly in his way and wanting to be either in his lap or right near the warm monitors. I got this heating pad to put on his desk right next to his monitors and keyboard so that she can be right next to him and still enjoy a nice, comfy, warm bed. She absolutely loves it. Every time he is at his PC now, she is on her bed right next to him! It has been an improvement for him as well because he can enjoy playing his games and the company of his best friend.I was a little worried about the size whenever I bought it but it was actually a perfect fit! I didn't quite know if it would fit on his desk (I didn't know the dimensions I was working with exactly), but it fit perfectly. Its super easy to set up. Just plug it in and you're good to go! I would recommend not using it without some form of supervision, even though you could. The padding is good all things considered. It's not going to be the greatest but to be fair, there are only so many materials you should be using with a heating pad so that you can be safe and so that it's safe for your furry friends. The color was also a perfect match for his desk and we love the versatility of being able to switch between the two colors. Its also nice how easy it is to remove the heating pad for when you need to wash the covering! If you're thinking about buying this product, do it. Even if your kitty isn't the biggest fan of the heating element, you can always switch out the insides with material that your cat will like and out it in a window or in their favorite spot!

🐱🐱6 watts , soft , heat is just right🐱🐱 ON SINCE 2020, STILL LOVE ,ABOUT TO GET FOR 10 YR OLD
🐱WHY i chose it.. after seeing my neighbors outdoor houses, i looked into it, ended up buying a house for porch for outdoor visitors ( cats).. and this for our lil ole bedknobben 14 ( thats what name you get when mom has dementia)This is 6 watts ( a 100 count led xmas is lil over 4).. it won't feel warm until the pet lays on it ( or you do the pillow test)You just plug it in, no dial etc..It has a nice case, we lay a pillow caseOver it, thin enough to not interfere but we have a bunch and its easy to wash when it gets hairy..I did end up using a heavy duty cord, with the watts im not freaked out over it...We inherited broomsticky and bedknobben when our stepdad passed, he inherited them when mom passed, not wanting to freak out our kitties ( one is a cujo like bowling ball) or BnB.. we set up a basement apt.. pretty snazzy for unfinished but it does only have 1 vent...We keep house warmer than we like, and run a space heater a few hrs am n pm to compensate but i wanted something in between.. this is perfect!.. now sticky has passed so when bedknobben wants to warm her old bones she can snuggle onto this...... it seems to be just right...Sometimes regular pads can get too hot..And btw even with this, the cat needs to be able to get off of it when they want to, so for a temporarily confined pet, or a very ill, you will have to monitor them..Inexpensive solution...very happy so far, may get a second one for her window bed since the watts are low ( we only have 1 outlet, and that has tv, antenna cams n xmas lights for night lighting....We do use blink cams, so i do like that i can keep an eye on it, but my neighbors have had their outside ones on cords 24/7 for weeks now..🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈

My cat loves it!
I got this for my elderly little kitty because she doesn’t have much body fat any more and I was worried she was cold. She just loves it. I put in on the couch and leave it plugged in for her to sleep on all day. It doesn’t get too hot, just a nice warmth kind of like if she was sleeping in the sun

My cats love their new heated pads. These are soft, comfortable for them, a good size, and can be left on all the time.
EXCELLENT cat beds.Bought two of these for each of my fluffy furrballs for their Christmas presents this year. I washed and dried the outer covers before setting these up inside each of their beds (I bought them the rectangular amazon basics beds last year and they love them more than any of the expensive cat beds I got them- these fit on top of them very nicely) - I've left these plugged in for almost a full month now, since Christmas, and they are working perfectly. It's only a slight heat if they aren't sitting on the beds - just a little bit above the ambient room temp, as indicated in the description. However, it heats up under them when they sit on it, and it's definitely enough to be very comfortable to each of them. My older cat seems to be getting stiffer joints and now spends more time on her new heated bed rather than as a PLUG sitting on top of the bedroom register, which is a win-win for all of us, as now our bedroom isn't freezing and she actually gets a lovely plush bed and her comfortable view out from the bay window instead of sitting on the floor. My younger cat also appreciates her new heated bed placed in our front bay window, so now she can sit in plushy warm comfort while staring at all the passersby. These aren't ridiculously expensive, the quality is quite nice, and the cover is soft and enticing for furry friends, while also easily laundered and vacuumed. I like that this low-wattage means I can just leave these plugged in and dont have to manually turn on/off a setting like with a regular electric blanket. These won't get hot enough to burn my furry friends, but they are nice and toasty for cool window areas. The size is perfect for them - they fit on them and can spread out nicely even though they are both on the chubby side. I would highly recommend for a winter cat bed/ bed insert. Wish I had known about these low-wattage heated beds sooner!

Kitten heaven!
My two kittens love this pad. We put it in the cardboard box Amazon delivered it in (they love sitting in boxes) and they've spent most of the days and nights since in the box on the lovely warm pad.The mat itself is made of a springy soft sponge with a heating element inside (which can be removed for cleaning), all covered in a nice soft faux fur. The cable that came with it is long enough to run a short distance to a socket, but you're going to need to have the mat within a few feet of a socket. I've positioned mine so that the cable is hidden from the playful little kittens that will chew anything string like. I think it's a low 12 volts so even if they did chew through the cable they're not going to do themselves much harm, and it also means you could run this off batteries if for some unfathomable reason you needed too.I should also say that the mat never really feels 'hot'. It does get warm, and it is certainly warmer than the surrounding area, but if you're expecting something with a similar heat to a radiator you're not going to get that. The fact that it's warm and not hot is also the reason that it is low cost and low powered. My two furry boys and I highly recommended it.Update 20/4/15: We've now had the pad for almost 3 months, and the kittens still spend most of their spare time sat in the box on this thing unless there's a sunny warm spot to sit or play in. I've not turned it off in that 3 month period and the plug hasn't overheated and it's not noticeably affected the electricity bill. If it's possible I'm more impressed now than I was before.Update 18/11/16: We're coming up on the 2 year anniversary of having bought this heated mat now and I'm still mighty impressed. It's still in the Amazon box it came in and the boys still love it. I've found that during the warmer months the mat goes unloved and unused, but it also gets unplugged because it's not in use. However, once the colder nights started to draw in again at the beginning of October the moggies returned to the mat before I'd plugged it back in. Now that it's up and running again if they're not sat with us the chances are they're snuggled up in their box on the heated mat. It's running well and I've still not noticed it effect the electricity bill. A great pur-chase! (Sorry, couldn't help myself!)

An absolute feline's delight
I've actually been surprised that this mat worked as well as described, and that my cat even took to it in the first place! It does have quite a strong plastic smell (I'm assuming from the packaging it comes in, as it has gone away), and I worried that would deter my 14yo cat from using it when we first set it up. We placed it on her cat tree on the level she normally sleeps on so that she would use it without noticing at first, and gave her treats and some catnip on the bed to encourage her to use it. It took her a week or two to recognize that it was different from other beds in the house, and now that she's figured it out she rarely leaves it during the day while we're at work. (Still prefers a lap to sit on when we come home though!) The product details are accurate in that you can leave it plugged in all the time (a great feature as I know I would forget to turn it on before leaving for work some days, and now I don't have to worry), and it never gets particularly hot. I feel glad knowing that it will never get too hot and burn her, but instead provides a radiant 'body temp' heat that just helps her sore muscles feel more comfortable. Absolutely would buy in the future for other pets.Pros: - Cat LOVES it; Never gets too hot; Can leave it plugged in all the time; Doesn't draw too much electrical power (have not noticed a difference in our consumption at all); fairly low profile and neutral colour (also two different options on the sides) make it fit into decor betterCons: - Odd plastic smell (give the cover a wash before using, though cat didn't seem to mind it); heating pad inside is small (my cat is only 7lbs, so it's fine for her, and honestly I'd imagine most cats wouldn't mind it at all; it's like a car seat warmer: it's only located in one small spot but it still warms you up); cord isn't very long so I'd recommend a spot right near an outletI'll try to update this review in a couple months/a year to see how it holds up over time.Overall, a great purchase, will be recommending to all friends and family.
