The only safe harness for dogs!
I've spent weeks researching online for the best car harness for my pooch and what was my surprise when I discovered that most of them are not actually designed to protect the dog only the passengers from being hit by a flying dog in case of an accident! I watched numerous crash tests and this is the ONLY harness I managed to find that actually passed a crash test!It is very dear, but what is the price tag on your best friend life? I doubt it would be a £100... I've read a lot of reviews for this harness and some of the imperfection are true. The little reflective line started to come off quite quickly and it is not really a walking harness as the stripes do come loose. Having said that the true job for this harness is not to be a walking-reflective harness, so it doesn't really bother me. The item is not only solid, but also beautifully made with attention to details.I have a dog that is spot on 28'', 25kg cross bread (something between a lab, a pointer and a collie), he's a little in between M and L size, so I ordered the L one and that was the right decision. The harness does keep him in place, even though he was never the type that jumps on you when you drive, he still does like to stand up and in times before the harness he would be all over the back of the car if we had to turn or break suddenly. Sometimes he can be a little girl pretending he can't move because of the harness, but I noticed he's making that up. Sometimes I would pull out the seat belt, so it doesn't put any pressure on him and he would still pretend he can't move. I think there are extensions that can be added that would help, if anyone else have a silly dog like me. I'm a little unsure however how would that work for a smaller dog, that doesn't have enough strength to pull the seat belt (that wouldn't be the harness fault obviously). I think for a small dogs it's just better to get the sleepypod pet bed (also passed the crash test).

Really like it as a car harness, not for regular use
I got this and had a really hard time adjusting it. I eventually did. I am not worried it will loosen up because of how hard it is to adjust. I like how my dog can lay down and sit up in the seat, and is sleek car device that is successfully crash tested. I was using it as her daily harness since my dog does in a car everyday because she goes to dog day care. The stiffness of the device which is needed probably to make it work as a car safety device rubs my dogs fur and skin, it is really irritated. I will use it in the car, just not outside of it.

Works well for my shih tzu
I wanted a safer car harness for my shih tzu, Cooper, and the Sleepypod harness was recommended to me in a shih tzu group. I'm very uncoordinated but I was able to adjust the harness by myself and fit it on him. It was less tricky than some other harnesses I have tried. The first time I used it in the car, I was worried it wouldn't work for him, because he was stuck in a sitting pose and didn't seem able to lie down. But the second time I used it - and every time since then - he has been able to lie down without any problems. It seems like he just had to get used to it. He can easily go from a sitting to lying pose and back now. He seems relaxed and comfortable. I don't use it as his primary walking harness, but it does also work for that purpose.I would definitely recommend this harness, and I would say - if your dog seems uncomfortable at first, give them a chance to get used to it and to realise that actually yes, they can sit/lie down if they try.Note: my shih tzu is taller/larger than the breed standard for shih tzu; he is almost 19 lbs. But this harness isn't advised for dogs under 18 pounds, so you should check your dog's weight before purchasing!

Fab safety harness, well worth the expense.
This is not a cheap harness but it is very well made and of a good quality. What is most importnat though is that it uses the seat belt in the same way it does on a human so not only does the dog not become a loose canon in the car in an emergency, but it also safely keeps them on the seat, nice and secure. The wide chest pad helps absorb any force and makes it comfortable to wear and it does not rub my dog at all. Once you have it fitted correctly to them (the videos on You Tube are best for this purpose) then it is so simple to put on and off. I just leave the neck clasp done up and my dog steps through the leg looks and I do it up across the back. The seat belt threads through two wide straps on the harness. While in the car my dog is free to sit up or lie down and can move around a little but not get up and wander around. I am so pleased with this product. One small criticism is that the reflective strips are wearing off but I didn't buy it for night time walks. Videos on You Tube show how well this harness works and what happens to the dog with many other harnesses. I think it's well worth the price to potentially save my dogs life.

Bought small for my dog who is a Parsons Russell/Toy Poodle cross and fits her fine reducing the size to the smallest it will go
I was impressed by information about the crash testing etc. Bought small for my dog who is a Parsons Russell/Toy Poodle cross and fits her fine reducing the size to the smallest it will go - found the video on the website useful as a guide for how to do this. She was already used to a tethered harness in the car but wasn't keen on the safety belt going through the back loops of this harness at first. After a few weeks she is now used to it and I am used to putting her in it etc. I suppose I won't really know how effective it is unless we have a crash - which is something I hope will never happen of course.

Fantastic Quality harness, but on the expensive side
Brought a for my new Jack Russell rescue- With this having passed the crash test I have peace of mind and he can still lie down or sit up. Because of the cost I use it as well for his walking harness and the shock-absorbing chest plate is great, as its means when he pulls the pressure is on his chest no his neck and so I don't worry about his windpipe being collapsed. 2 downsides- firstly you need a lead with a wide fastening clip as average ones are just about can get both metal hooks in, secondly the top straps as he pulls do loosen slightly so I have to tighten then before every walk to keep the harness tight- he is a strong puller though.
