Be warned!!
Never was the old adage "never judge a book by its cover" truer than in the case of this publication.I was due to fly out for a holiday in Cuba and being a keen amateur birdwatcher I wanted a handbook that would help me identify the main species I was likely to encounter. I ordered this book largely on the basis of its front cover, which features a Cuban Tody in full breeding plumage. Big mistake! The cover photo is the only one in the entire book. Other illustrations are limited to a few line drawings. This text essentially is about where to see birds, rather than what birds to see. It gives good general descriptions of the main birding sites, how to get there, and where to stay when you do. But it is a book for the specialist - the experienced birder who knows what to see and wants to know the best sites to see them. It is too big to put in your pocket, and is a reference book that's OK in the car but of little use in the field. If, like me, you want an illustrated book of handy size that identifies and illustrates the main birds of the Caribbean, stay clear of this.

Where to watch
This not is a bird guide, ok.The Prion are books for birdwatcher's, and is for "where to watch" birds. The best places for watch birds and accomodation, transport, weather, when to go...For this is the best.
