One of the best low profile keyboards
The NuPhy Air96 is a low-profile mechanical keyboard known for its sleek design, portability, and solid performance. Here’s a detailed review based on common features users have highlighted:Design & Build Quality• Slim & Lightweight: The Air96 has an ultra-thin chassis, which makes it one of the thinnest mechanical keyboards available. Its low-profile design is appealing to those who want a modern, minimal aesthetic.• Materials: The frame is made of a combination of aluminum and plastic, offering a lightweight feel while maintaining durability.• Keycaps: The Air96 features low-profile PBT keycaps, which are known for their durability and resistance to wear over time. The keycaps have a good texture, and legends are usually sharp and clear.Switch Options• The Air96 offers low-profile Gateron mechanical switches, which come in different variants like red (linear), brown (tactile), and blue (clicky). These switches are much shorter than standard switches, offering a faster actuation, making typing or gaming feel more responsive.• Users often appreciate the smoothness of the Gateron low-profile red switches for fast and quiet typing or gaming.Typing Experience• Low Travel Distance: Being a low-profile keyboard, the Air96 has a shorter travel distance compared to traditional mechanical keyboards. This gives it a laptop-like typing experience, but with the tactility and responsiveness of mechanical switches.• Comfort: Its ergonomic design and low profile help reduce strain on the wrists, especially for extended typing sessions.Connectivity & Compatibility• The keyboard offers both wired (USB-C) and wireless (Bluetooth 5.0) options. You can easily switch between multiple devices, making it a versatile choice for users who work across different platforms.• It supports multi-device pairing, which is convenient for switching between, for instance, a PC, tablet, and phone.• Battery Life: With wireless use, the Air96 offers decent battery life, lasting up to a few weeks on a single charge, depending on the backlighting usage.Backlighting• The Air96 features RGB backlighting with various customization options. It can sync with the typing patterns, and users can adjust the brightness or choose from a variety of effects.• The backlighting on the Air96 is not as bright as some thicker mechanical keyboards due to its low-profile design, but it’s still functional in darker environments.Performance• The keyboard offers a very responsive typing experience, especially in gaming. The low-profile switches reduce the actuation force and travel distance, resulting in faster response times.• Users find the wireless connection reliable, with minimal latency during typing or casual gaming.Pros• Sleek, slim design with premium materials• Comfortable low-profile typing experience• Wireless and multi-device support• Solid battery life• Responsive low-profile mechanical switchesCons• RGB backlighting is not as bright compared to standard mechanical keyboards• Might not be ideal for users who prefer the deeper key travel of traditional mechanical keyboards• Lacks advanced features like hot-swappable switchesConclusionThe NuPhy Air96 is an excellent choice for those looking for a slim, portable mechanical keyboard with a good balance of performance and aesthetics. Its combination of low-profile design and mechanical switch feel makes it suitable for both typists and casual gamers, though those looking for a more traditional mechanical experience may miss the deeper key travel.

Be warned: firmware problems and unstable connection
I use macOS and have tried both 2.4GHZ and bluetooth connections. This keyboard will continuously drop connections and miss your keystrokes. It is extremely frustrating. I'm not that fast of a typist. I can only type at about 115 words per minute, and this keyboard is unable to faithfully capture all keyboard input. In the case that you're a faster typist than I am, which I'm sure there are many out there, then you will be stuck with a product that does not work for you.The keyboard has one job to do; to input the keystrokes from your fingers to the device you're connected to. This keyboard does a miserable job with this basic task. Also, returns are NOT FREE, and you'll have to PAY for shipping to return this product. I have never had any issues like this. If you receive a defective product like I have, or that the product IS defective like this one is, then you'll also be responsible for finding your own shipping company, paying for it yourself, and ONLY getting reimbursed $4 at the end of that transaction.I'll give you hint that you'll pay absolutely more than $4 for the shipping fee.Do not support this product or the company.

Overall just meh...
• Overall packaging is nice - comes double-boxed and without much non-recyclable packing• Has semi-hard clear plastic cover that can be used when keyboard is not in use• Included USB-C cord is terminated in USB-A, unfortunately, and no adapter is included• Included dongle is also USB-A• Comes with extra key caps for Windows and one with a cat face along with other colors for enter and escape key (though no extra space bar)• Also comes with keycap and switch puller tool• Mac media keys printed on the function key caps• Lighting is only effective is keycaps are replaced with shine-through unfortunately - why they included non-shine-through keycaps on a backlit keyboard is a mystery• Key programming can be done with VIA without the need to download any software• Very loud keyboard with no way to make it any quieter due to the low-profile switches• Keycaps printed in light grey over white, not easy to see in lower lighting conditions• Design is boring and minimal• No wrist rest includedOverall, this keyboard is a decent model if your computer can still accept USB-A input or if you have an adapter lying around. The inclusion of the media keys printed on the keycaps is a great addition. But the keycaps aren't shine-through, so it defeats the purpose of the lighting. And the keycaps are the low-profile variety so replacing them with something else will likely prove difficult. There is no wrist rest included and the keyboard sits high enough to warrant the use of one for most users. Also, because of those low-profile switches, it will be difficult to include any dampening to quiet the sound - it is very much a clacky keyboard that would not be good to use if more than the typist is in the same room. Also, the price here is hard to accept especially since the manufacturer tends to offer a lower priced if purchased directly (though still overpriced in our opinion).
