Very nice starter kit
I’ve been fortunate enough to have used some high end fly rods (sage, G loomis, winston rods) This kit is competitive for the price. The reel is the only thing I’m hesitant about but saying that I reeled in a 6 pound rainbow trout last spring with it definitely proves it’ll get the job done.

Impressive quality for the price
I purchased this on Prime Day as a loaner rod. I ordered the 5wt 8 1/2 ft model. The rod is very nicely constructed. The cork is better than expected for the money and the alignment dots are all perfect. The rod is a moderate-fast action that is suitable for beginning and more experienced anglers alike. I took this out to catch some stocker trout just to try it and I was really impressed. It's soft enough for more delicate presentations, accurate enough for sight fishing and it has just enough backbone to land a bigger fish or buck a little wind. If you're just wanting a good rod and you're not worried about showing off, then I see no reason why this couldn't be your primary rod. I think it's going to be my go-to when I'm fishing smaller rivers. This thing really is a little gem.

.... For better fishing experience just replace the reel. The drag is too soft.

Bought for my adult son and he loves it. I haven't fished with it, but I did handle it quite a bit. Seems like all my other Redington rods, cases.. outstanding!

Worked well initially, but then the tip suddenly snapped while casting.
Top section snapped from the slightest pressure while casting. I now see from the other poor reviews that other people have had this issue with this rod as well.

Very much like a Sage Fly Rod!!
I purchased this rod and I was aware that Redington fly rods were actually Sage rod blanks in disguise. ( hope this makes sense) Anyway it's a 4 piece rod and worth the extra bucks. Dont shy away because it's a Redington.
