Joe Namath and My 10 Minutes of Fame
I read this book back in 1968 - 1969 when it first came out. I was 13 and in middle school at the time with a class assignment to do an oral book report on a biographical book. I liked Joe Namath as a football player and, since he had just come out with a book on his life story with that attention-getting title, I chose him as the topic of my report. The book was pretty shocking for the time as he went on about his escapades with the ladies detail by juicy detail. I couldn't wait to share my findings with my classmates even though we were all young, pimply-faced kids, most of whom had yet to explore anything of that nature in our lives. The day arrived for the presentations and, as others took their turn in front of the class, I noticed right away that they had all chosen completely different subjects--John F. Kennedy, Madame Curie, Abraham Lincoln--so I feared that mine would not be as interesting. Boy, was I wrong! As soon as I read the title, everyone roared with laughter and I held their rapt attention until my report was over. Needless to say, I got a B- for my efforts. I might have gotten an A if I hadn't gone into so much detail about how his knee acted up during that episode in the back seat of a car. Oh well.I lost track of my original copy of the book and didn't give it another thought until one day, I saw a special on cable TV about the Jets back in the day. There he was again, in all his glory with that smile. So, I decided that I had to have a copy of the book in my own library. I found it here on Amazon.com.It's still a good read and I recommend it to all who enjoyed Broadway Joe in his hey day.

4 stars for "I like it"
This is Overblown Joe, when he's obviously in drinking mode much of the time. It's loud crowing before a fall. But still, it's a book written by an Everyman, a completely likeable guy, a little on the macho side, but nonetheless someone I could like and relate to. Bookend this tome with a Sixty Minutes interview of what he's doing now, sober and living in Florida. You will see the same likeable guy, now grown wise. Very interesting.

Joe Namath's book
Joe's first book is still a good read! And for a vintage book that had so many years on it, it's in pretty good shape.

Written in a way that certainly sounds like Namath wrote it
Written in a way that certainly sounds like Namath wrote it. Some nice anecdotes and a lot of 1960s personal attitudes.
