This ExtremeRate kit totally revived my battered old DSi. The “Great Wave” print is stunningly detailed and feels premium. Installation took some patience, but the guides were clear and all the pieces fit together perfectly. It feels solid, the buttons click nicely, and it genuinely looks like a special edition console now. A fantastic, satisfying project for any nostalgic gamer.

This shell fits excellent. One must follow all the steps correctly and replace everything in order to get it to actually close back up, but this shell fits the best of any of the after market I’ve tried. Other reviews say the provided screws strip easily, this is true. I found it better to save and reuse the screws from your donor console. I also recommend using your own tools. It can be tricky to replace the cover on the top screen and correctly remove the border on the bottom but these are necessary to get it to fit right. The riskiest part is definitely getting the top screen out from and back into its housing as the ribbon cable is delicate. If you do everything properly you can get excellent results. Things I forgot and had to add back in later: the plastic piece that goes in the power LED slot, the metal piece that goes behind the battery cover so the cover has something to screw to, removing the bottom screen border, reseating the wifi antenna cable near the charging port so the case fits proper. If you’re comfortable with teardown and reassembly this is a great mod.

The case is a good quality. The graphic is not a sticker, it's like a silkscreen or something so it should last a long time. It feels very premium, and I like the matte. The buttons it comes with dont work that good IMO, but the new membranes are a good quality. I swapped my old buttons in with the new membranes and the dpad and buttons feel nice. The teardown and assembly isn't overly difficult, just time consuming. Do be careful with final assembly, I broke my power button and had to resolder a new one. Four stars because the screws suck. The heads strip out way too easily. The hinge screws specifically are just not the right size, they're too short and not thick enough. So if you barley over-tighten them they tear out in the plastic. I had to use other screws for the hinges that were from my old damaged case. Some others mentioned how the fit wasn't quite right on the bottom screen. That the case just wouldn't get tight there. I had the same experience, and again using different screws and just continuing to adjust the case I eventually got a clean and tight fit. Regarding some folks who said their top screen was floppy or didn't close all the way. I did not use the metal ring that came with the kit. Instead I used the one that was in my broken case. That helped to tighten hinge fit. Also, I had to keep messing with the actual hinge piece before it would snap close nicely and not flop. You can do it, it just takes some patience. If you make sure your old ds top screen is fully opened bedore disassembly that is good, then mark the hinge with a sharpie somehow so you know it's orientation when you reassemble the new shell. The set is a ittle pricy considering the screws aren't right, but overall I would buy this kit again.

Great quality. The plastic does not feel cheap, there are great tutorials on the install online. I did reuse some of the original Nintendo components, such as shoulder bumper springs and other components like that, but the shell seems to be excellent quality and it took a broken $5 ds lite and made it seem new again!

It looks good, figuring out how to install it wasn’t too crazy. Reason for the 3 stars is just the fit of it. It is manageable but would be better if it had the exact dimensions of the original case for easy install

Be sure to follow a tutorial on YouTube, there are lots of little tricks to shell swapping a DS Lite. As long as you do, this mod isn't too hard to do and the result is pretty great. I have a thin gap near the charging port on mine but other than that, the shell fits perfectly. If you have scratches on your top screen, this kit will resolve that issue as it comes with a new top screen lens but if your bottom screen has scratches. You'll need to order a new digitizer too- these are cheap though and just a couple extra steps in installation. Overall. If you want a custom shell for your DS, this is the best choice, imo.

I will update this review if my replacement works properly. Spent 3 hours reshelling my old DS Lite with this case, only to find out that the main top shell piece was too small, or part of the bottom shell was too small causing it to bend. This prevented the bottom shell from attaching properly to the rest of the console. My advice to anyone using one of these is make sure that every shell piece fits together easily without any bending before you start working on it since I just wasted my night trying to make it work. What I will say positively is that the shell feels relatively high quality when compared to the original, and the screwdrivers that are included work well.

La qualità della plastica è ottima: solida, resistente e con una finitura liscia che sembra quasi quella originale. I tagli sono precisi, quindi tutte le parti combaciano perfettamente, senza scricchiolii o giochi strani. Il kit è completo di tutto: cover superiore e inferiore, pulsanti, lente protettiva per lo schermo, stilo, viti e persino gli strumenti necessari per il montaggio. Non ho dovuto acquistare nulla a parte. I colori sono vividi e fedeli alle foto — io ho scelto una versione cangiante e l’effetto è spettacolare! Il montaggio richiede un po’ di pazienza, ma con il video guida ufficiale è stato tutto più semplice. Alla fine il mio DS Lite sembra appena uscito dalla scatola… anzi, meglio, perché ora è unico e personalizzato. Se vuoi rinnovare la tua console o darle un tocco personale, questa cover è un acquisto consigliatissimo. Rapporto qualità-prezzo eccellente e risultato finale che vale ogni minuto speso per l’installazione.
